Kind of like baseball does with magic numbers but we have to use points rather than wins. The number given is the number of points earned by TFC or dropped by the club listed for TFC to eliminate that team from playoff contention. If all five magic numbers reach zero, TFC has clinched a playoff spot. I'll update this as the season progresses. Cincinnati 3 (7 games remaining) Columbus 9 (5 games remaining) Chicago 12 (5 games remaining) Orlando 16 (6 games remaining) Montreal 16 (5 games remaining)
If I may make a small suggestion, perhaps also add a line for the number of games that TFC has left (currently 7).
I was about to add that but the edit button has disappeared. A little bit of googling and it appears that we can only edit posts on BigSoccer for about 10-15 minutes after posting them so my plan of just editing this post with the new numbers has fallen by the wayside. I wonder what the purpose of that is. Why would that be removed? Is it problematic for people to edit posts? Anyways, easy solution, I will just copy and paste a new one after the weekends and I will include the TFC games remaining as well, good suggestion.
Magic number as of September 1st with TFC having 6 games remaining. Cincinnati 0 (6 games remaining) Columbus 6 (4 games remaining) Chicago 9 (4 games remaining) Orlando 12 (5 games remaining) Montreal 12 (4 games remaining)
Magic number as of September 8th with TFC having 5 games remaining. Cincinnati 0 (5 games remaining) Columbus 3 (4 games remaining) Chicago 6 (4 games remaining) Orlando 7 (4 games remaining) Montreal 9 (4 games remaining) And incredibly, after what was such a frustrating season, TFC is just one point back of a home playoff game.
Magic number as of September 15th with TFC having 3 games remaining. One win and TFC would clinch a playoff spot. Cincinnati 0 (4 games remaining) Columbus 0 (3 games remaining) Chicago 2 (3 games remaining) Orlando 1 (3 games remaining) Montreal 2 (3 games remaining)
Playoff spot clinched! But unfortunately back down to 6th thanks to a moment of madness from Mavinga combined with a NYRB win and a DC United win.
