In the Chilean history, only 7 medals have been won at the Olympics games, 4 silver and 3 bronze. This year we have the oportunity to win 3, all at once!

Chile sent 2 tennis players in total, they are playing doubles fighting for a gold on Saturday's final against the Germans.

Massu (Chile) is playing Fish (USA) for the singles gold on Sunday.

Gonzalez (Chile) is playing Dent (USA) for the singles bronze on Saturday (yes, he has to play twice the same day).

Had Gonzalez not twisted his ankle on today's semifinal game against Fish, two Chileans would have disputed the gold medal.

I think that this is pretty amazing! Worse case, they'll go home with 2 silver medals for Chile... best case, 2 golds and a bronze.

Best of all, two of the games they will play against Americans (just like today), so I will be able to watch the games life... just like today! :D

    GO CHILE!!!!

    WOW, what a match.

Congrats to Chile. Now I have to deal with my girlfriend (Chile) and my roommate (German) for the doubles title. Ugh...

I thought Alicia Molic did really well to win a bronze medal for Australia, especially when our strength in tennis is in the men's tour, (Hewitt & Philippoussis) and not the women's tour.

Not sure tennis should be in the Olympics though... not when winning a Gold Medal isn't the pinnacle of the sport.

Tennis in the Olympics counts toward ATP ranking points. About not being the pinnacle of the sport, same counts for soccer, boxing and cycling (among the ones I can remember). The Olympics is supposed to be a challenge for amateurs in these sports, coutries sending professionals is another issue.

I didn't know that, thanks for letting me know. :)

Soccer is a little different considering teams can only have 3 players over the age of 23 playing in the Olympics. Boxing is only ametuer level at the Olympics anyway, so it's probably the pinnacle of the sport until you turn professional.

    To take this off topic...

Every Mexican, Italian, Argentinian, Portugese, and probably every Greek, Malian (?), Ghanan, Paraguayan, etc...in fact probably everybody except maybe a player or two from Australia and/or RoK. Iraq may be the single exception, but we all know the reason...
