It sounds like the board have offered Wenger a two year extension and that the ball is in Arsene's court to sign or not sign it. One report suggests that Gazidis wants to bring in a director of football, but that displeases Wenger. And then we have the fan problem if a contract is signed while there are still home games to be played. Predicament.

 

Kroenke is definitely behind Wenger. If Gazidis wants him gone, the possibility of a standoff would be likely (even if Gazidis would likely lose eventually because Kroenke simply has more sway and power at the club). Then again, if Arsenal fail to qualify for the CL, that could provide extra ammo to the Wenger out camp as well.
Guessing that from that point of view, the lack of an announcement makes sense and nothing will probably happen until the end of the season. It also would explain the not so subtle hints Wenger has been dropping as of late: he clearly wants to stay, but simply can not make it official as of yet either...

 

This is shaping up like a season to forget for Bale, who is going to be sidelined another month, with a recurrence of his calf injury.

 

Tactically, not personally. They also liked that he had come over from Real. I doubt 8 in 10 fans can name Kante's French club.
But I was living in England at the time, and I don't recall seeing Makelele on billboards or in adverts. He was fapped over in a similar way to Kante because they both lacked any kind of outsize personality.

I've always said, one of Makelele's best gifts as a footballer was the ability to smile beautifically to the ref and thereby avoid cards.

 

Bayern are the latest club to signal an interest in Sanchez. That would partly explain why they'd be ready to cash in on Costa.
There's also talk that Arsenal may be ready to offer him £300/wk to stay. Would make sense for Arsenal to do so, but it does fly in the face of recent comments made by Wenger, regarding the club's wage structure and how he was unwilling to break it for Sanchez.
This has all the earmarks of a saga, that could drag on a better part of the summer.

 

Ramos apparently getting only a 1 match ban. Neymar got 3 for clapping.

 

Ramos put his hands on the ref as well, ever so slightly but that should have gotten him a longer suspension.
There's no Barca only favoritism as some people like to claim. In Spain, both teams (Barca and Real) benefit of blatant favoritism at one point or another, especially compared to every one else, for obvious reasons...

 

No one has ever said that Kante is better or even close to Makelele. Frankly, they're nowhere close to being the same in their style and approach in terms to how they play in midfield.
But to dismiss completely Kante's contributions like he's some scrub, in light of what he's done in the past 2 seasons, is frankly laughable...

 

They're french and black. That's about as far as it goes.

 

And short. The comparisons really don't go much further at all.

 

While I agree Kante and Makelele were different players, your praise of Makelele and dismissal of Kante is verging on you damn kids get off my lawn views.

 

If Makelele was playing today, you'd dislike him too.

One match ban is fair considering he never touched Messi and the player jumped to avoid the impact of the tackle.
