I don't get the obsession with Brandt around here. Lots of potential but far, far away from a finished product.
Bakayoko!!! Huge for Monaco. Just can't switch off defensively and give it all they've got. Bring on Moutinho for some ball retention.
I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just genuinely asking, because it seems pretty simple to me. Man City is a big club on the European stage, and making a comparison to the likes of Villareal didn't seem appropriate.
Well done Monaco. Unlike Leicester, this is the "small" team big Euro powerhouses will not want to face.
If this game is not enough to convince Pep and City that the bulk of the kitty has to go to the back this time around... 4 new faces (at least) are needed at the back, between gk and defenders. 4 minimum. They could do with a mid as well, but the backline is what needs major attention for them. Has been the story all season.
When did I ever suggest that? City have much more financial muscle to throw around. BVB punch above their weight, but they aren't a European powerhouse.
Damn...I was trying to remember if Pep had won the CL with Bayern, so I was looking at his honors list. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pep_Guardiola#Managerial
Leicester City only team left from the EPL and clearly proves the point that if you want to compete in the EPL AND the UCL then you need a 22 man squad full of quality and that is a fact. Leicester has been crap all season beats a top team in Sevilla, then Man City fighting for top four gets knocked out. I am hoping these EPL managers start understanding the importance of rotation.
Defensively, City never stood a chance in this competition. They actually look a weaker outfit under pep atm.
