We need a separate thread for the things which will help brand Oklahoma City's entry into the NASL.

In keeping with the Thunder theme; use of a collective noun, my sugguestion:

    Oklahoma City Centauri

The franchise will be a star among many.

    Centauri may refer to:
Any of the stars (or star systems), in the constellation Centaurus, including:
    • Alpha Centauri, a binary star including the brightest star of Centaurus
    • Beta Centauri, the second brightest star of Centaurus, at a much greater distance to the Sun
    • Proxima Centauri, the nearest to the Sun of all stars, and close to Alpha Centauri

Is anything really wrong with Oklahoma City FC? We were called the freaking "Slickers" for years!

I almost suggested that in another thread! How funny would that be?!?! OKC Roughnecks! Love it!!!

I'm all for keeping as much of the same as possible. I like OKC FC, I don't mind the colors, If the badge needs replaced for whatever then that's fine. But lets keep as much of our identity as we can. Lets build off what we have, not start all over. I'm always open for ideas...but if it's not broke...

I would personally drop the FC...just Oklahoma City. Keep the colors.

I do heavily favor an informal nickname: for example, Chelsea is the Blues, Man U are the Red Devils...

I agree. I like an informal mascot

We could aim to have the longest name in sports history.
"Oklahoma City Scissor Tail Flycatchers" and if that's not long enough just throw a color in the name...

We use to have a team in the United Soccer League called the Oklahoma City Stampede (1984-85)

    Rufnex,

If OKC FC actually did negotiate to buy the Roughnecks name and use it in OKC, I hate to admit it but I would actually agree with you...it would be a DICK move. That being said, as I predicted before, watch the papers because it will be announced in the next couple of weeks that a group is exploring bringing the NASL Roughnecks back to Tulsa.

They truely missed you, USRufnex, they knew exactly what button to push which would bring you back to the Oklahoma City thread. Oklahoma City Roughnecks? Come on guys, you know that a DOUBLEDICK move.

Yeah, let's steer away from Roughnecks...that's totally Tulsa's. It would be like bringing in the Vancouver SuperSonics.

I like just "Scissortails" as our informal name. A student of mine is working on a logo - Gonna be nice.

Some of the good things I've seen with OKC lately is to move toward improvements helping create its own identity: Devon Tower, Bricktown revival (ballpark, arena, canal, amenities), Boathouse District, Paseo District, Plaza District, Stockyards District, Gaillardia, OKC River Parks & trails, Myriad Gardens, Sky Dance Bridge, new hotels, moving the crosstown I-40... ...highly anticipated things to come like Core-to-Shore, Taft Stadium renovation, downtown convention center, central park & commuter rail.
Oklahoma City has momentum and we need to continue carving our own niche...

"Scissortails" is pretty cool. I like that it at least has something to do with Oklahoma.

    Kit idea...

Just IMO, I'm not a big fan of the solid color kits (unless its all white or black). My fav. is a stripped kit. [IMG]

This is just an example. Something like this...
The color yellow (or gold) is fine. Just not huge on solid yellow or any other color kits.

Scissortails is a good name idea. The Oklahoma state bird (Scissortail flycatcher) much like the Louisiana pelican as with the name change the NBA New Orleans Pelicans.

Picture this, Oklahoma City 2015, game announcers wouldn't say scissortails or scissortail flycathers; they would probably use the short form. Wow!

The papers would pluck up after a loss and imagine some announcers talking about someone got a piece of that tail.

Flycatcher, man I won't begin to explore what they could do with that one...

FCjason, like you I prefer the stripes with colors and solids with black & white.
