Season is coming up, thought it would be appropriate to start brainstorming some chants, maybe break some out in the KC game. Not very creative, but this model is a staple among many teams: Anelka's yellowgreen army Anelka's yellowgreen army [repeat on and on]
May help if you add "...to the tune of ___________" just so people get an idea of how it's going to sound.
Good call mate. http://fanchants.com/football-songs/arsenal-chants/arsene-wengers-red-army/ Similar to that, but plug in our manager and colors.
here's an easy one I think could be used from time to time maybe: A C SAINT LOUIE! A C SAINT LOUIE!! A C SAINT LOUIE!!! over and over. what do you think, eh?
Can't go wrong with "When the Saints Go Marching In" either. Would be cool to do it like Tottenham do it, start off slowly, and gradually gain speed. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd-x7diatoQ"]YouTube- WHEN THE SPURS GO MARCHING IN[/ame]
No. Saint Louie is not a proper term in way, shape or form. That is not the French pronounciation. It's "san-louie" Folks outside of here say St. Louie coz they saw the movie once.
ABSOLUTE QUALITY. I am 100% in favor of any chant paying homage to Tottenham Hotspur. I think we are destined to have "Saints" be our nickname...someone should check out some Southampton forums for any chant ideas.
the same song they have been playing since I first started going to Cards games in the early 80s, "Meet Me In St.Louie". But I was really being sarcastic since I knew everything you were talking about in your post. Since I have been to Paris and learned a bit of French before I went I did know the proper pronunciation of St., but thought it would make more sense to say Saint and didn't think it was a big deal, guess I was wrong. Sidenote: I noticed the team yells "A C" after their huddle
Really? I never noticed them playing that at the Cards games...but also, in "Meet Me In St. Louie," the first scene after the first song, it's explained that that's not the name of the town...lol. I felt super vindicated when I heard that. Calling us St. Louie is like calling San Francisco "Frisco." Only out of towners say that. Bugs me is all. You were at the match yesterday?
yes I was! I was there with Gerry Wittmann from the ACStLouisFanatic blog. I wish we would have had a bigger turnout, maybe if it would have been advertised. Oh wait! That's not possible, I guess. I'll carry this topic to the proper thread. Back to chants!!
I like the idea of calling the team the Green Army, instead of the yellow green army. Also I feel its more Coopers team then Anelka. So here's my idea. Take it or leave it. (while clapping) Jeff Cooper's Green Army Jeff Cooper's Green Army Jeff Cooper's Green Army
Here are my thoughts oh some of the chants that were done during the game last night. It was obvious that we haven't worked on any cause the chants were pretty basic. Ones that worked: -AC! (while hands raised) -Clap Clap Clap -AC! (while hands raised) -Clap Clap Clap -STL STL STL while clapping Yelling ooooooooOOOOHHHH for duffy's kicks. -Same old KC! Always cheating! (for fouls) I think this would work better if it was a little faster. Whatever United Knights were saying in Bosnian, I think we could learn some and cheering in two languages would be awesome. Ones that didn't work: -The stand up if you hate KC! Stand up! -Sit down if you hate KC! Sit down! Just felt a too euro for me. Maybe we can tweak it to make it our own. -Who are ya? Who are ya? Who are ya? Again very euro feel, we can do better. I know there were more but just can think of them. If you remember more please post and add you feelings. Or put your own comments.
Just don't do that "AC Submarine" chant again! I was near the KC supporters and they were just ripping that chant to shreds...and rightfully so! But if we do get some good ones going, we can organize them and put them up on the Fanatic.
Section 20 was fantastic the whole night. Now to the bold text, the half pints or whoever they were sucked. All three chants highlighted above in bold were done by them, people actually left their section because they were so annoying. I liked the basic chants and I thought by the end of the night when every group and person who wanted to chant ended up in the same section, they did a great job. The UK's were better then I expected and more welcoming to everyone then I thought they would be.
I loved the United Knights. I'm glad they're part of our section, or just the one over or whatever. They were at the SLU/AC match, and they were there on Saturday, and you know they'll be there on the 17th. I liked how we did it...chanting with them sometimes, w/o them sometimes. I thought it was a great mix.
Agreed, it was pretty awesome, although now we have to find more chants for next time. Enthusiasm was there, variety was lacking.
Singing a song in the same exact style it's sung at White Hart Lane isn't even the slighted bit of homage to THFC?
I'm just wondering.....if we can get the other side of the Soccer Park involved in some songs and chants. Maybe something like the supporter's side chanting "AC" and the other side responding "St. Louis" back and forth at the start of the games, maybe ten times. Might be a nice stereo effect. Probably would need a few members of the supporter's groups over on the other side of the park for a bit to get things going. Just an idea. Also, any chants or songs you have, with the lyrics and tunes -- we'd love to post them on AC St. Louis Fanatic blog and Facebook page, so we can get the whole park rockin.
