We would traditionally spend big on individual players and get press coverage by breaking records. Meanwhile the rest would regularly outspend us overall. I looked at it once ages ago for an argument here and in the history of the Premier League (to that point) we had only spent the most in an individual season a handful of times. Our big spending overall has only been in the last decade or so.
It'll be hilarious when Chelsea spend 100 mil on Bakayoko and Sandro. Although Sandro could be pretty devastating in their 343, he isn't worthy of being the worlds best defender. And Bakayoko is crazy overrated in my book. Actually it'll be funny until we spend 80 mil on Perisic and Matic a week later. Then...not so funny.
That may be the most beautiful header off a corner kick I've ever seen. Break out the chain saw...again!
Sandro is one of the few actually good and young LBs left in world football. When you consider that he's the only one even remotely close to available he gets a scarcity premium.
Inter need to raise around €30m by June 30 due to FFP. Mourinho wants Perisic but Woodward has put in a lowball offer to exploit their situation. Inter have been holding out but something will need to give this week.
Pool are throwing their hat in the Mbappe sweepstakes... www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/10927624/liverpool-interested-in-signing-monacos-kylian-mbappe Don't know why anyone else would really bother here: Mbappe only seems to want Real if he goes and they want him in turn. That one is done and dusted, whether it's this summer or the next one at the latest.
Before this all gets too messy. 1) I have been told that Keita wants to go. 2) I believe RBL's €80m or nothing stance is genuine.— Raphael Honigstein💙 (@honigstein) June 26, 2017 Liverpool getting priced out of Keita which is good news.
As it's been reported, Chelsea are close to deals with both Bakayoko and Sandro. While there is also a big possibility that Lukaku and Van Dijk will join them as well.
DEAL DONE: Crystal Palace have appointed Frank De Boer as the club's new manager on a 3-year deal. 🔴🔵 pic.twitter.com/rcRKhJf1XW— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) June 26, 2017
Maybe we can squeeze 15-20 from them for Blind and slot Mr. Calm, Cool and Collected aka Axel Tuanzebe into the CB rotation.
Blind will probably a 4th, maybe even 5th option at best. I guess that's where Tuanzebe could be as well, but it would only do him so much good. And if that would be his place in the team this year, I'd probably rather have him go on loan somewhere in a team where he can play (preferably a Prem one). Once he showed he could play, it would give United free license to get rid of Jones (who'll probably miss a good chunk of the season with injury) next summer and bring back Tuanzebe in his place. That would make more sense to me personally. And with Rojo injured to start the season at least, it probably means he will have to stay, for additional cover (bc Jones is liable to go down at any moment), which means he could end up being stuck not playing much as he should.
