True, though most Euro citizenship stops at grandparent or parents or has some really arcane rules that have to be followed. Usually, we get some clues that give us a sign because we've seen too many players and their families jump off the ledge with bad information.

Another loophole, the most likely one IMO, is that Ireland until 2005 gave automatic citizenship to anyone born in the island. Any of his parents or grandparents could have been born there and he can claim citizenship.

The story behind the change is pretty great, and it's surprising that the old laws weren't taken advantage of more often.

That's what I have. I've never actually been to Ireland, but I'm a citizen with a passport.

The only thing I'm lacking is being any good at soccer.

    Jealous.

I was looking up Euro citizenships the other day to see if I'm eligible for any. My most recent foreign-born ancestors were my great-great grandparents, so I'm out of luck.

Here's a mention of Booth in a story about other young potential Bayern targets that seems to basically say -- he's one of the targets:

2019 kommt Alex Timossi Andersson (17) von Helsingborgs IF hinzu.

I know something about the Italian process. It's pretty straightforward, but can take some time -- perhaps less if you hire help, though I don't know for sure and/or how much, since a lot of it is basically document gathering and authentication.

If his mother already has it, it could be as easy as going to whichever consulate covers Utah and applying for a passport. If not, then I hope they started this already.

My advice to you, if you think this kind of thing might be of interest to you at some point in your life, is not to wait to see if your child is a budding international soccer star before beginning the process.

Whatever happened to this kid? If he’s not at Bayern then surely he should be back training with RSL

I'm guessing if he's not able to get a passport, he'll just do the back-and-forth training game like Josh Sargent (and a few others have done) until he turns 18 on May 31, 2019.

I hope it doesn't go down this way. That's a long time to be limbo at a very crucial time in a player's development. Periodic training isn't the same as being part of the group and playing in U19 Bundesliga games.

Or maybe he’s been injured and he can’t wait to get back on the field (what is a pitch, this isn’t England)

Yes.. he's going to Bayern. It's been known for awhile.

Booth was really good at the January youth summit. Then at the February U-18 camp, he really, really struggled.

At his best, he's a good player but he's not consistent.
