Richie Williams of course. Then he becomes Tab's assistant and they carry us to new heights.

You know what's not going to be a popular opinion? I'd rather see a coach who came up in the American system. I think that's part of the point of World Cup soccer.

(Yes I'm aware that not all countries take this approach. And that we failed because we're so "arrogant.")

Technical Director? Ehh. I could see that going to an international guy or whomever's "best man for the job."

Tab Ramos coaches usmnt's development program, he would know the players better than anyone else, that be huge advantage.

He also has a good record with 25-17-7 (V-L-D).

    FIFA U-20 World Cup Record

    New Zealand 2015: Quarter-final
    South Korea 2017: Quarter-final

This is his reward for not qualifying for the 2016 olympics? US Soccer guys fail upwards better than anyone else I know. I have professional jealousy.

    Bruce Arena was logical....
US Soccer needs a little something different. Not saying illogical, but different, please.

We can get out of the box/different when we make the noninterim hire.

Actually there is - the World Cup. There will be more candidates available after it.

I would go with Hugo Perez as interim with the understanding that he will be re-evaluated after the WC. He has a great soccer mind, he coached a number of our brightest prospects, and is passionate and US soccer and believes we have the talent to play attractive, lively soccer.

Yes, he doesn’t have the experience most are looking for, but he will have a lot of ramp up time for the next World Cup. It’s a gamble on greatness - and a fairly reasonable gamble at that.

If the USSF is gonna insist on labeling the coach as a temporary hire, it’s not gonna be easy to have someone leave a full time gig for it. I bet Hugo would take a shot.

The thing is, Klinsmann was hired because he promised to play attaching possession soccer. He gave up on that real quick.

We know that Hugo can coach that style and he’s been able to get results doing it. Give him a year and see what develops.

why does Ramos feels he's entitled to be NT manager? He can be interim, nothing wrong with that. I want a foreigner with experience coaching well internationally or at least success with club football in Europe.

he should have stuck with his club in Ligue 2. Got them into Ligue 1 (even if it took another year or 2) and then waited for an opportunity in the PL. But yeah I understand he took the shot that opened up and it failed.

Watching HackWorth muck up our very talented team against England, and recalling how TabRamos mucked up our talented Olympic side, all I gotta say is that the Tab&Hack show is one Sunil would wish upon us....
.... Although if Sunil brings back JK I would give him cred for knowing how to guarantee the name of Gulati will still be known a hundred years from now...;)

Except that someone else took over that same sinking ship and kept it up. That's not a good look.

really don't mean to be a jerk BUT....what does his u20 record have to do with really anything. He's been to the QF twice...which with what us soccer invests in the youth set up and the DA and the now closed program for the youth players...the quarter final should be the bare min every cycle.

also how many of those players really are going to be in this squad?

personally before Tab gets a crack at the usmnt I'd like him to take a job at a club and show he can coach men not just u20 kids.

It won't be the first time a scurvy crew has been asked to man a sinking ship while the Captain and his Mates stay on shore swilling rum. Go, USS MNT!
