The new Zurich stadium took yet another legal hurdle. All that is left now for the opponents is one last appeal against the building permit at the Swiss supreme court. They have 30 days to submit the appeal if they want to continue the fight...

After 3 1/2 years we are finally seeing the end of the tunnel

well still quicker than all the more than decade long drama in Berne...

I didn't really like the new Letzi at first (mainly because of the athletic tracks) but I have to say it looks quite good specially those sticks/bars) look good from outside and the airshots.

I agree, it's better than the old Letzi.

However I don't see the point in the new Zürich arena having a capacity of 40'000 when GC have like 4'000 spectators per game except for like 4 games in a season, FCZ have bigger attendances but still, 30'000 should be enough.

Are you new to this forum? don't think I've seen you before

sorry for the OT stuff ;)

    I'm Swiss

I used to like the old YB (during the NLB and Neufeld days) but all that big club thing on and off the pitch put me off. I often went to watch Xamax aswell. But I'm not a fan of a particular swiss team. I want all of them to do well specially in international competitions.

But there are some players I'm not really fond of (degen's, yakins, frei, streller)
I'm not saying they are not good, I just can't stand them.

Barnetta, Wicky or the good old Chapuisat, Vega along with Hottiger are more to my liking

no thanks - don't like the diving, moaning, spitting, injury prone prima donna he has become.

    sadly there aren't many alternatives.

    Hi for all.
I found a site on the Internet for anyone who want to buy a percentage of professional football players.
We will come the possibility of any of us can buy a percentage of a player, like Henry, Ronaldo, etc?
It seems to be a very innovative concept, and I think it is useful to provide a look there.
    The site is http://www.realplayermanager.com

Can I ask for some help? I'm fairly certain (after a Babel Fish effort) that the following link says Luzern voters have approved a new stadium.

    http://www.fcluzern.ch/dynasite.cfm?dsmid=81426

If I'm following it right, it will open in 2011. Will it be on basically the same site as now, and if so, will FC Luzern continue playing in the old Almend until then, or will they have to move temporarily for construction?

I saw a game there in 1996, I'd love to go back to the old place before it closed if I could swing it.

Only the zoning has been approved.

There will be another public referendum planned for November this year. After that there are many more legal hurdles so nothing is definite yet. Look at us in Zurich, the voters approved the project YEARS ago.

Ah, that all sounds far too familiar. :(

There's been a proposal for a new stadium in Vancouver for five years now. The financing is completely private, but zoning and other issues have kept it from being done, and breaking ground on it is still probably more than a year away, if it ever happens at all.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Wow, this thread has been dead for a while.

Any news on the Sion stadium?

Anyway, here's the official Swissporarena site http://www.swissporarena.ch/

I remember following the AFG Arena and the new Maladiere constructions, this is not as good.
