- Juventus loaned out Davide Chiumiento to AC Siena for this season. I'm not sure if I'm fond of this development...because if Davide does well for Siena Lippi would be the first to call him up for the Italian national team. - Christoph Spycher is currently in negotiations with Glasgow Rangers and will tryout for the team on Monday and Tuesday.
Here is the updated list: Australia Remo Buess (Queensland Roar) England Johann Djourou (Arsenal) Daniel Good (St. Martins AC) Philippe Senderos (Arsenal) Reto Ziegler (Tottenham) France Alexandre Comisetti (Le Mans) Mirko Di Nicolantonio (St-Tropez) Grégory Duruz (Amiens) Alex Frei (Rennes) Stéphane Grichting (Auxerre) Brent Haas (Bastia) Johann Lonfat (Sochaux) Sebstian Roth (Lorient) Matias Vitkiewiez (19, Guingamp) Germany Tranquillo Barnetta (Hannover) Diego Benaglio (VfB Stuttgart) Berardi (Brescia) - Youth Bruno Berner (SC Freiburg) Mario Cantaluppi (Nüremberg) Dorsa (Brescia) - Youth Mario Eggimann (Karlsruhe) Kevin Fickentscher (Werder Bremen)-Youth Stephan Keller (Erfurt) Oumar Kondé (SC Freiburg) Peter Läng (Freiburg) - Youth Ludovic Magnin (Werder Bremen) Remo Meyer (1860 München) Raphael Mollet (Freiburg) - Youth Ali Özcakmak (Jahn Regensburg) Panizzolo (Genoa) - Youth Daniel Pavlovic (Freiburg) - Youth Milaim Rama (Augsburg) Ciriaco Sforza (Kaiserslautern) Roger Stilz (Altuna 93) Marco Streller (VfB Stuttgart) Marco Walker (Mainz) Raphaël Wicky (SV Hamburg) Hakan Yakin (VfB Stuttgart) Nevzet Zukic (TSG Hoffenheim) Holland Guilherme Afonso (Twente) Blaise N'Kufo (Twente) Johann Vogel (Eindhoven) Italy Stephan Balmer (Napoli Sportiva) Valon Behrami (Hellas Verona) Gaetano Berardi (Brescia) Davide Chiumiento (Siena) Gerardo Clemente (Juventus) Simone Fumasoli (Juventus) Christoph Meoli (Reggina) Marco Padalino (Catania) Daniel Panizzolo (Genoa) Rijat Shala (Salernitana) Johan Vonlanthen (On loan to Bresica from Eindhoven) Fabrizio Zambrella (Brescia) Scotland Stéphane Henchoz (Celtic) South Africa Björn Gugger (Wits University FC) Spain Fabio Celestini (Levante) Sweden Feliciano Magro (Landskrona) Turkey Önder Cengel (Fenerbahce) Hakan Yakin (Galatasaray) United States Stefan Frei (Cal-Berkley)
Looks like Hakan's about to switch clubs yet again (!) Matthias Sammer doesn't want him and Hakan doesn't seem willing to fight for a spot on the team (looks like he suffers from Landon Donovanitis). Besiktas & Galatasaray have shown interest in him and it wouldn't suprise me if the transfer happens in the next few days. By now I can't help but laugh at the situation, Hakan has high aspirations but just doesn't seem mentally prepared when he has to prove himself at a big team (skill-wise it should be easy for him.) Hakan is a terrific player but without close-by family support and complete trust by the coach he just doesn't seem to blossom... His transfer circus is starting to look a lot like his brother Murat's (before he came back to Basel)
I did... Oumar Kondé (SC Freiburg) Diego Benaglio (VfB Stuttgart) Valon Behrami (Genoa) Reto Ziegler (Tottenham / in 2005)
Add Reto Ziegler to the list at Tottenhem Spurs, he just signed and will play for GCZ until the winter break. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-tottenham&prov=reuters&type=lgns
Is he getting any playing time in Germany? I seem to remember that he was getting very little near the end of last season.
The few times I did see him on the field for Stuttgart, he looked not to be a good fit and/or unmotivated and/or out of shape. It made me cringe to see him have so little impact. Moving on can only be a good thing.
http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=manchesterunitedtour&prov=st&type=lgns Cisse, the top scorer in France's Ligue One last season, scored in the 62nd and 76th minutes around a goal by teammate Stephane Henchoz.
http://skysports.planetfootball.com/transfernews.asp?type=article&id=216208 Brescia have snapped up Fabrizio Zambrella on a free transfer.
As hard as I was on Hakan in the post before, Stuttgart (and specifically Felix Magath) deserve some major blame as well. Magath knew (or should've known) exactly what kind of player Hakan is and the fact that he needs some special attention to feel like he belongs to a team. Instead he benched him the whole time, after telling him he'll be the new number 10 on Stuttgart. Some people say that Magath never even saw Hakan play before the transfer (!) and only later found out that he doesn't fit in with the team's style.
Valon Behrami will be loaned out one year to Hellas Verona (Serie B) Also, it looks like Marc Roger won't let Zambrella go to Brescia...? PS: I also forgot to mention Stephan Keller at Erfurt in Germany.
Rijat Shala from the U21 team signed a contract with Salernitana (Serie B) after GC no longer wanted him (they were unhappy with his attitude.)
What a start by Alex Frei! In the first game of the season he helped Rennes defeat PSG 2:1 by scoring the second goal... If Alex continues this way, he just might win the scoring crown this year.
I have just updated the list. - Christoph Spycher is being pursued by Nice of Le Championat. - Alexandre Comisetti has just been loaned to Le Mans for the year from Servette. - It also appears that ex-Swiss Abroad Antonio Esposito might be joining AC Lugano as FC Varese was forced into relegation to Serie D due to their financial problems. - Gökhan Inler is close to a transfer to Fenerbahce. - Raphaël Wicky has been awarded a contract extension until 2008.
- Blaise N'Kufo scored vs. Ajax but Twente still lost 3-2 in their first game of the season. - Alex Frei scored his 2nd goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to Auxerre.
Newly promoted Levante (Spain) has loaned Celestini from Marseille for one year with an option of a three year contract...
Scratch that, Celestini signed for good (3 years) - Alex Frei scored his third goal of the season and helped Rennes defeat Nantes 1:0. - Alexandre Comisetti scored his first goal for Le Mans in a 3:0 victory over Laval.
Ali Özcakmak has started out the season well at Jahn Regensburg (3rd Division in Germany). He has scored two goals in the first three matches of the season. Stephan Balmer (28) is training with Napoli Sportiva. The club is not sure which division it will play in this season due to legal issues (see FC Sion).
Two other Swiss have trials: - Christian Schwegler recently finished a trial at Arsenal. - Stefan Kohler is on trial with Algeciras of the second division in Spain.
I see it hasn't been posted yet, but Mario Cantaluppi left Basel and signed with Bundesliga side Nürnberg...
A little update: - Celestini scored for Levante this past weekend - Rijat Shala scored his first goal for Salernitana in Serie B - Frei scored again for Rennes as they defeated OM 1-0. - Feliciano Magro plays in Sweeden for Landskrona.
- N'Kufo scored both goals in a 2:3 loss to Kerkrade. - Ziegler gave his debut in the premiership at the 80th minute in a 1:0 Spurs victory. - Barnetta scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 3-1 Hannover victory over Hansa. - Magnin had an assist in Werder's loss to Bayern.
