I have to agree with you on this one. To me, God Bless America just feels/sounds awkward whenever I hear it. America the Beautiful is the better song.

One song is about the ideal of capital 'A' America, the other is about the real estate. I like 'America The Beautiful' but 'God Bless America' evokes a songwriter, a singer, and an audience that wasn't ashamed or embarassed to be American. Don't sing it if you don't believe it.
