DC picks MD/FW Brandon Barklage (Saint Louis):
Hard working and fit, with an awesome engine. But not enough skill to go with it.I once heard Sigi was scouting him as a potential pro, so people are obviously aware of his talent. Started his college career with New Mexico, scoring the Lobo goal in the College Cup to get UNM to the final. Transferred to SLU for final two years. Led the Bilikens in assists in 2007 with five, broke lose in 2008 with seven goals and 10 assists. Including his first two seasons at New Mexico, Barklage has fifteen goals and 24 assists in his collegiate career. He’ll likely be a midfielder or withdrawn striker if he makes it as a pro. Depending on where he plays at the combine I may move him to the midfield rankings. Former US U17.

    2008: Atlantic Ten Second Team.
    2006: MPSF First Team.

Colorado picks GK Steward Ceus (Albany):
A very tall keeper with some serious quickness and reactions. He’s very raw and looks a high risk high reward pick. The giant 6-6 Ceus, a four year starter for Albany, carries a 5.93 saves per game average this season that ranks 4th in the country. American East Goalkeeper of the Year, Ceus leaves Albany with school records in shutouts and saves. His Third Team All-American nod is the first Division I All-American award in Albany soccer history. Team Captain.

2008: All-American 3rd Team, American East Goalkeeper of the Year, 1st Team.

    Day 1:
"Working hard. Smart soccer player. But he’s not give much space to move by 25 and he couldn’t separate."

Day 3: "When others are looking tired he isn’t. Work rate and fitness are high. Does some good things. He even got the tying goal at 1-1 when his shot was deflected on a partial block by Mirsky thus catching the keeper going the other way."

He was second on the team in scoring during conference play with eight points (2g, 4a). We already released him. Either we re-sign him, go with Knighton only, or maybe barring a GK in the last two picks bring in an undrafted FA.

Does anyone have a sense why Jeremy Hall wasn't taken until now?

Wait a minute -draft-tracker changed it - it's now Kyle Hall.

With the #40 pick, the Revs select DF Darrius Barnes (Duke):
An athletic defender who can tight man mark the best strikers. Notably shut out Zakuani on Day 2. Might be able to play right back.Like many talented payers in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Barnes never got a whole lot of award attention. He has a reputation as a terrific athlete and certainly has the size at 6-2. A three year starter for the Blue Devils, in 77 games Barnes has 70 starts, 1 goal, 9 assists, and an impressive 32 shutouts. Barnes was named to the 2008 PDL Team of the Year playing for the Cary Railhawks U23s.

2008: Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team, PDL Team of the Year Cary Railhawks U23

    http://www.3rddegree.net/2009/01/2009-final-mls-superdraft-defender-rankings/

Day 1: "Athletic, tight man marker type. Doesn’t do much build out play. Handling best white forwards without to much trouble. Has some upside I think. Played a little wide right late, I’d like to see some more of that.."
    http://www.3rddegree.net/2009/01/mls-combine-report-day-one/

Day 2: "Marks Zakuani today and virtually shuts him down. Nice job with one of the more dangerous players here."

Because he was taken 11th overall by New York?

MLSNet screwup. Toronto took Kyle Hall.

Didn't RBNY already draft him in like the 1st round? What the hell is TFC or mlsnet thinking?

KC picks GK Neal Kitson (St. John's):
This red-shirt senior is smallest keeper in my top ten, yet Kitson put up some extraordinary numbers this year behind the Red Strom’s impenetrable defense with a staggering 0.32 goals-against and 13 shutouts. While one might be tempted to think this year and a half starter might be getting a lot of help from his fullbacks, his performance at the College Cup leads one to believe he’s a major part of the team’s standout defensive performance. Good lateral quickness helps compensate for the lack of a large frame.2008: Soccer American MVP 1st Team, Big East 3rd Team.
    http://www.3rddegree.net/2009/01/2009-final-goalkeeping-prospects-rankings/

Chicago picks DF David Sias (UC-Irvine):
Sias is the soft spoken, hard working leader of the Cal-Irvine impressive 2008 resurgence. After giving up 31 goals in 2007, Sias took responsibility for the back line in 2008 and reduced their goals against to a meager 21. A leader by example, Sias missed one game this season, the Anteaters lone loss heading into the NCAA tournament. His outstanding play this year garnered Sias the 2008 Big West Defender of the Year nod after a Second Team award in 2007. Sias is the second winner of the Defensive Player of the Year in Anteater history (Saul Wolf 2001)

2008: Top Drawer Soccer Third Team, Big West Defensive Player of the Year, First Team.

    2007: Big West Second Team
