Sigi’s memorial mass was very moving. Loved hearing stories from Dale Irvine, Tayt Ianni, Alexi Lalas and Jurgen Klinsmann. It’s surprising the impact that he had on all those guys. Even with Jurgen who was a WC Champion and who retired before he met the coach. If you have 3 hours to kill, it was worth listening to.
That BWP article is messed up. It says he’s 27 years old, and also quotes him as contemplating some action when he turns 33. #fakenews

LOL! This is from a team who boasted about signing their first-ever DP, Milton Caraglio. He was paid $54,000 a year, but they only actually paid him 18 grand because he signed for the final 12 games of the 2011 season. He scored 3 goals, which isn't bad for a guy who came in at that stage of an already lost season in a new league, new teammates, new country, new language, not to mention turf and travel, but apparently that price was too high to re-sign him. Then he went to Chile and was his team's leading scorer with 16 goals, but hey, Kraft is a savvy businessman, or so they say.
Caraglio now plays for Cruz Azul after they spent 6 or 7 million to get him from Atlas. So, whoops. However, I wouldn't read much into scoring in Chile. Octavio Rivero, the guy who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in MLS, went to Colo Colo and scored 18 or so goals in a year an a half. He got sold to Atlas for 3.5 million and proceeded to score...well no goals in Liga MX and found himself out of the squad entirely. He is now on loan to Nacional in Uruguay. Also, fun facts from the past year in Chile. The leading scorer this past year was a 38 year old and the person tied for second was Gabriel Torres, another MLS bust. None of that changes that NE made a bad move with Milton. Just find it interesting when you see former MLS players in other leagues and if they were successful or not.
Well, the thing is they brought him in and touted him as a "DP" when not all teams had them, which implied that they were serious about spending money to bring in talent. They likely had no intention of signing him, since it probably would have meant a boost in wages and/or transfer fee, more than they were willing to pay. Burns poo-poohed it all, saying he "wasn't up to the standard" of magnificence that the 2011 Revs represented. And whatever you want to say about the level of play in Chile, a guy who scores 16 goals and is his team's leading scorer can't be all that bad, can he? Especially when you consider how bad the Revs were at the time...
