Not a great look from an Athletic reporter: A new recurring seasonal feature: Most pitiful visiting fan sections. I count exactly eight people wearing burgundy up in section 300. Colorado takes a strong early lead in the rankings— Matt Pentz (@mattpentz) March 10, 2019
He is absolutely right. Those fans do suck. Who wants to drive 20+ hours or spend a couple hundred bucks to fly and stay in Seattle in the middle of March when there is no sun. It's not even a funny cheap shot.
USA Today article on the the by now infamous Robert Kraft scandal. Honestly Kraft is only incidental to this by now, the actual ring uncovered keeps on getting worse and worse. Now it turns out that Dept of Homeland Security was involved in helping the investigation and they were able to trace millions of dollars flowing between China and the florida spas involved in the investigation. Regarding Kraft: despite being required to appear in court he plans on only sending his attorney. I wonder if the Florida court system will flex its muscle and force him to appear? www.yahoo.com/news/hidden-cameras-sex-cash-trash-100602545.html
Usually for an arraignment (where a defendant enters a plea) it's sufficient for an attorney to appear on his behalf. The US frowns on trials in absentia but defendants aren't required to attend their trials. The Yahoo piece says detectives turned off the recordings when women customers entered, on the theory they weren't there for prostitution. That's a pretty big red flag and the defense will get mileage out of it.
I think it will be interesting if Robert Kraft is one of the people to get an earlier trial. He seems to have a hired an all star defense team and they will find a way to get a lot of stuff thrown out. I imagine everyone else will then have their attorneys mimic Kraft's attorney.
His attempt to CYA didn't get much better For what it's worth, I meant no disrespect to you and those other hearty souls who did travel. I respect the loyalty, and the cost. Had meant it as a critique of a Rapids org that couldn't inspire more to make the trip (though I realize that got lost in translation)— Matt Pentz (@mattpentz) March 11, 2019
His "Take" or attempt at making a "point" was epicly bad. His take is something one would expect from someone who is new to the American Soccer scene, not an experienced writer/reporter. He does realize that Denver is several HOURS by PLANE from Seattle??? The US is NOT England or Europe for that matter. Do reporters for the Russian Premier League bemoan how few Anzhi fans travel for a match in St Pete?
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...meyda-2nd-straight-loss-we-made-many-mistakes Welcome to San Jose Baldy, hope you enjoy the ride as much as we do.
That is one of those damned if you do damned if you dont things. If they left the cameras on they could get some shit for that real quickly.
That Yahoo piece makes it seem like the cops spent months watching what amounts to online porn feeds from the parlors. Other than catching more johns, it's not clear what they learned eventually that they couldn't have had after a few days. Around here massage parlors get raided periodically. The cops try to flip the sex workers and sometimes succeed and sometimes don't. If they are going to operate a months long sting, they better free more slaves than the number of johns charged with misdemeanors.
