For the Wave's sake, I am glad she is no longer their owner. Was her 'ownership' of the Wave really Sue Black representing other 'investors' who were not publicly identified? While she has an accomplished career in parks management, she did not seem to have the big money ( at least publicly known assets) on her own to run a pro soccer team. I never heard what happened with those lawsuits over the unpaid bills & default on a loan.
No offense to the current Wave coaches, but I'd rather have Tozer still coaching. He got the Wave out to the public which the current ownership has failed to do given the large drop in attendance. this season is the lowest attendance the Wave has gotten , if not in its history, darn close to it.
Apologies for thread necrophilia, but Sue Black finally did enough to be ousted from her job here. I *think* the case for Worst Person to Ever Own an Indoor Soccer Team is pretty strong for Thomas Guerrerio, but Black is in the top 10, surely. Who else would you put in the top 10? Dion Earl, surely. Raj Kalra. The Johnsons. Some others could be named.
Who was the owner of the San Diego Sockers back in the early 2000's who folded the team within months of buying it? I had season tickets and lost all my money.
One time before Raj, there was Victor Cocchia who showed up in a Ferrari and immediately defaulted on his purchase of the Sockers.
Sham didn't last long and did have that fun/sad incident on a national TV game where he held up the start of the second half (IIRC) because he thought one of the officials hit on his daughter, or something. I may be mis-remembering that, but I think I have it on DVD somewhere. I can think of some others, including some of more recent vintage.
