The last general YA thread on Neven was closed due to length awhile ago, and this article seemed like a good place to start a new one. Let's try to keep the "What NT will he play for?" debate to a minimum (That's for other forums).

Van der Vaart Picks Subotic as Best

If Van de Vaart is in Spain how does he have time to watch Dortmund's games?

Does he have a personal TV strapped to his head on the pitch while he is playing all tuned to Germany's 9th place team for all of Real Madrid's home and away games? Duhhhhhhhhhh

I know this isn't the time or place, but...

When there was one or two of these guys (American passport holders who play for another country), it wasn't such a big deal to have them discussed in this forum.

With it looking more and more like there may soon be a whole bunch of guys with American passports who play for other countries, what's the friggin' point?

I mean, can't the few people who will continue to be interested in Subotic simply head on over to the Dortmund or Serbian forums to discuss him?

I think the vast majority of us come to this forum to keep track of overseas players who may contribute to the USMNT. It's going to get a bit ridiculous if we have to start sorting through Subotic, Rossi and Hangeland threads to see if Adu has finally gotten off the bench at Monaco.

If the powers that be have their hearts set on allowing these threads in this forum, then how about creating a separate sub-forum for guys with American connections who will not ever play for the USMNT?

Ugh... we had such a nice thing going on here in this whole forum by ignoring this guy.

Why did you have to bring him up?? It's just going to start s**t

Every time I read about Subotic, I think about "Jules" Valentine being selected over him for the U20s.

He is being referred to as "The new Nemanja Vidic"???

I wonder what accolade he will get if he chose us, "The new Oguchi Onyewu?" "The next Jay Demerit/Carlos Bocanegra" alas, we will never know... :D

Except for the fact that is not 100% true. He was invited to be part of the U20 team and turned it down.

Could things have been handled better? Sure. But he never was really all that into playing for the USA. He's really talented but he's a baby who used the USA as a stepping stone.

Anyway.. this thread is going to go downhill fast. I am outta here

He's been average so far this season. He even created one assist - for the other team.
