I tried to make it a humblebrag, but I couldn’t pull it off. But, technically, it’s “stuff from other leagues”. @Ismitje got it right.
I would have liked to also but going to a soccer game was not on my ex-wife's list of approved activities at the time. The only one I ever went to was in Cagliari back in 2000.
super jealous. That trip/stadium is on my bucket list. If I could get a Milan derby in person I think I could just die in the stands a happy man
Thanks for posting. I didn’t realize the city of Leipzig played a key role in East Germany’s dissolution.
So tomorrow's kind of a big day. The U of U women play Duke at 4:00. The USMNT play Canada at 5:00. And the women from that school down in Provo play Boise State at 6:00. That just has disappointment written all over it.
Flamengo scores in the 89th minute and 90+3 minute to win 2-1 over River Platte and win their second Copa Liberatores. Yay!!
Just in case you ever wonder where the USL $$$ go: https://www.soctakes.com/2019/12/10/nurock-significant-beneficiaries-usl-revenues/
https://div1.upsl.com/news/2020/07/02/upsl-announces-utah-expansion-with-kongo-fc The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce KONGO FC as its newest Division I member. Based in Farmington, UT, KONGO FC will begin UPSL play in the 2020 Fall Season as part of the Mountain Conference. The club will play its UPSL home games at Barnes Park (950 W. 200 North, Kaysville, UT 84037) in compliance with UPSL National Division I standards.
It’s a park, what possible standards can they have that it complies with? Hahaha. Just so we are clear Farmington is a small town next to Kaysville another small town.
Want to make sure you have no perceived connection to any Outlaws, Blitzz, or Royal-esque soccer in the state? Go with something like KONGO FC and build your own legacy. Actually, this is a clever way to expand the reach of a club set up - sort of the opposite track RSL (for example) has taken when it started with a first team and reached back to create feeder teams. FC Kongo has fielded youth teams in Kaysville for a couple of years, and now they can keep adults affiliated. And Kongo Sports offers a broad range of things at an impressive complex. Check them out at https://www.kongosports.com/.
I have wanted to do an actual athletic club in Salt Lake for a long time. This is awesome. The sports specialization in this state/country at the ages we do it is absolutely moronic.
English club Birmingham retired jersey 22 in honor of a player who came up through their academy and is off to the Bundesliga, and fans are befuddled. We're not alone!
22 easily. Kreis actually did something for the club as a whole. Their retirement would've been like retiring Salcedo or anyone from the academy that left for other teams.
But Kreis didn't really do anything for the club while wearing the #9. Heck, he spent a good amount of his time with RSL injured (ACL, IIRC).
this is the most frustrating thing with the 9 retirement to me. There would have been so many ways to honor Kreis the coach, that was deserved. Kreis the player, especially in the time here he was a player, is not something we should be celebrating too much
