Wednesday, July 4 • Kickoff: 6:30 PM • Al Lang Stadium Big match Wednesday! The winner will take firm control of the race for the Coastal Cup. A win here would not only be HUGE in the rivalry, but a big way to start the second half of the season. Here's hoping Mark Anderson keeps his scoring pace up! The brilliant midweek/holiday scheduling has once again made this July 4th trip nearly impossible to rally people for, but we will have Strikers supporters there. We have a couple of seats left for the ride up/back, if interested in going PM me ASAP for details.
A 3-1 loss did not help our cause at all, especially with another away game @ Carolina on Saturday and the Strikers have yet to win on the road. The Carolina game is now a must win if we hope to hold onto a playoff berth. LS, the ULTRAS will be there on the 14th, too. Along with about 3K other folks. However, if they don't have an additional 4 points, minimum, by the 15th, then we may see a decline in attendance by the fickle SoFL fans.
Refs were a joke last night. F19 was stationed on the berm, right where the near side linesman was blowing call after call on offsides. Andy's run late in the first half was onside but they called it off, and the Yoshitake goal was at best offsides by that logic(if not actually offsides, you can't see it on the replay). Orozco's 2nd yellow was a soft card, and the main ref had to be reminded by the Rowdies players that it was his 2nd. That ref needs to keep his head in the game. The CONCACAF guys who did last Saturday's match at home were light years better than the clowns in TB last night.
