Hello guys, today I had a problem when I and my kid were watching live soccer stream on the net. I just found that stream on google and suddenly porn ads started popping up on the screen. That was a really awkward moment. I do not want this to happen again in the future. For my windows os I found https://familyfriendlydns.com/ (link for those who wants to know what I'm using) so hope that one will stay protected from all that shit. But what could I use for my Linux? That familyfriendlydns thing is only for windows and sometimes we use both computers to watch sports streams.
I've managed to block ~85% of those on Firefox using: a) Ad Blocker uBlock Origin; b) Preferences > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Block Pop-Up Windows checked; To achieve 100%, the process is more involved: you need to install a proxy that checks the web addresses first, then a filtering program that does not allow the bad ones to go through. The problem with this is that it will slow down your browsing, so it's something to activate only when the kids are around. The guide to do it is here: http://web.archive.org/web/20161114...en.net/linux/web-content-filtering-made-easy/ Both privoxy and dansguardian must be available in the repositories of all the big distros. Just use whatever pack manager is the adequate (apt, apt-get, yum or pacman).
