Now reports are coming out that we may not have actually signed him and he is waiting to make a decision. I'm guessing this may eventually become yet another of the could have beens.
He certainly hasn't been one since ~2008-09. I was taking a look at arsenal-mania and it appears some fans are finally starting to say that. I recall the likes of Terp and rewinder getting a lot of grief on here for stating similar opinions.
We lost no one in the summer and spent almost 80 million pounds on FIRST TEAM talents, and look at how poor we are.
My point wasn't that we shouldn't sign anyone. Of course we need to be active. The point is, Wenger shouldn't be trusted to spend the money.
Cross writes nonsense to draw in nincompoops. Its not anything provactive to want Wenger out after fans, other journalists, etc have been calling of it. Cross is one of the worst football writers in England. His only insights are what Arsenal leak to him.
Just listened to a great, frank interview of Wrighty on the latest Arsecast. Good stuff, well worth a listen... https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast...arsenal-podcasts/id281128135?mt=2&i=384633310
Palace beat another top team. I won't be surprised if he gets a top job soon (not Wenger's successor!) He got caught at the FA, but nobody's perfect, if Graham can manage again after his indiscretion (worse than Big Sam's) then it wont surprise me to see Big Sam in a very top job. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/39212247
Agreed. I felt kinda bad for him with all that FA stuff...pretty sure all of them have done that before, he just got caught.
Wenger still refuses to play with the big boys. http://www.espnfc.us/story/3112892/...-dont-have-the-finances-to-sign-kylian-mbappe Didn't everyone sacrifice so we could get these players?
We're always going to be priced out of the world-record type signings. Mbappe's fee will rival the GDP of a minor country.
Arsenal promised that we would be competing for these players. The way they have treated fans is so dishonest, they are starting to reap the consequences of ripping off fans.
Plus, Mbappe looks like he will be the best striker in the world, so he must surely be worth the fee. Given the choice of buying two fairly good players (let's say... Lukaku and Barkley) for $120 mill or one worldy for that same price, give me the premium guy every time.
IDK about dishonest, because that requires some degree of intent or disregard for the facts. Our record signing pre-stadium was for something like 13 million quid. We've been after players in the 40 million range for a couple of summers now. It's just that the market for players has changed in the 15 years since. Not the best planning, perhaps, but I don't think anyone in 2004 would have predicted that players like Calum Chambers and Lucas Perez would cost more than Arsenal's then-record signing. It's more fair to say that the club really thought they could compete for the very best players, but the rise of commercial sponsorship, TV money, and the billionaire acquisitions put paid to that idea.
more talented than Martial... someone on here was equating Martial with Rooney at comparable age last year.....that was silly now...Mbappe - he looks like the real deal - Monaco is a really fun team to watch - I hope they can pull off the impossible and win CL
