Not really Dempsey related, but Fulham is going to erect a statue of Michael Jackson at Craven Cottage. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/mar/16/fulham-michael-jackson-statue-craven-cottage
There should be a picture of CD's jacko celebration from the Brazil CC game embedded in the pedestal.
In related news, I heard Arsene Wenger wanted a statue of Elvis Presley put up in front of the Emirates.
Dempsey broke some sort of goalscoring record for an American in the EPL today. He apparently has 10 goals, beating McBride's 9. What I want to know, is this in all competitions in a season, or just the league?
And he's now only 1 behind McBride and Steed Malbranque, who jointly hold the Fulham Premiership top goalscorer mark with 32.
I said this earlier in the thread, but you could make a case for Dempsey having the most impressive single season goalscoring record of any American who's ever suited up for the USMNT. Wynalda has the Bundesliga record among Americans with 9 in one season. Wegerle had an impressive season 2 decades ago with QPR, but England had a much lower ranked top flight league at the time and I don't even believe Wegerle had US citizenship at that point. Stewart and Bradley put up big numbers in the Eredivisie but it wasn't a very highly ranked league at either point in time. Dempsey's currently a top 10 goalscorer in the top ranked league in Europe.
Clint Dempsey sets scoring record LONDON -- Clint Dempsey became the first American to score 10 goals during a Premier League season, but could not prevent Fulham from losing 2-1 at Everton ...Dempsey topped the American mark set by Brian McBride, who scored nine times for Fulham in both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
