I'm beginning to think there is a real conspiracy to keep Jones as coach. the only way she would get fired if she looses again to Iceland. Well it's unconfirmed, but I just read their superstar. Dagny Brynjarsdottir(2 goals, 1 assist vs Germany).........................got pregnant! hmm................first France plays unusually indifferent while getting clobbered by Germany. Do you think now someone might of hired a lothario to get Dagny pregnant? lol
noticing that the return match with the surging Czech's is in early April; loosing that game would get Jones fired. The Czech's would surely use their speed(with the likes of Vodkova) to park the bus & counter attack(so here's hoping Jones brings back Henning for one more game, lol), but then their GK looked shaky last outing. Jones will at least have 3 practice games against quality opponents(the Sheba Cup), not sure how the Czechs will stay competitive
you know i really think Henning's done for the NT sadly she's going to stick with Peter probably forever lol, i mean the Peter/Henning combo was probably the worst cb combo I've ever witnessed, what a mess! would've been hilarious though if Germany failed to reach the world cup but not funny to think about all the talent in Germany at home
IF Jones fails at SBC they will move a high caliber Buli coach in to ensure qualification. Cause if they dont right all the way up to the DFB president everyone is up for getting fired
they need to get tough with Jones in games that matter(fire her butt after Euros, WC qualifiers losses) not in these glorified friendlies, as the coaches she's facing at SBC are as atrocious as she is/ England though, today are expecting to announce former Man U great, Phil Neville, as NT coach. Interesting that he previously wanted to start an all lingerie league. He might just take woso to whole new level, lol http://www.espn.co.uk/football/manc...tars-under-fire-over-lingerie-football-league White/Blue, when your going to invite a certain cave dweller to this threat?
I dont think you can invite someone more than on the first page of this thread. It's that said cavedwellers choice to set fire to the ponton bridge thats just been build for him
Huth's offside goal won "Tor des Jahres". I like Huth, she strikes me to be a bit similar to Timo Werner with her game.
Yes what's up with the nations with the best talents and player pools having so awful coaches? I don't know who's the worst, Ellis or Jones? Jill Ellis have some great defensive players that's gonna save her butt no matter what she does with the team, while Steffi don't - or she doesn't play them. Not made my mind up about the French coach, the game against Germany was so poor that I don't believe it to be true. New year, let's see what Steffi does this year
Ellis gets to remain coach no matter how bad she is on virtue that she won the last WC(even though that was more based on having a very deep, zero injury team. that besides having sort of the home field advantage, was also very comfortable playing on astro turf) as an outsider looking in, I honestly don't understand why Germany would of hired a coach with ZERO experience for their WNT? And I'm also surprised at the shockingly low attendance that the WNT gets these days!(which was anywhere around 2.5-6K fans for it;s last 4 home games) whereas in even nearby France, they're still getting sometimes over 20K to their games. another question I need to ask, why Germany can't produce more athletic/physical type players? Of course finger pointing will be that's all the US is about, but I think this is why next door neighbor, Pernille Harder as well several Dutch & Scandinavians success has to be contributed to their more athleticism
Even though winning group of death, they didn’t look great in the KO rounds until Japan imo. I don’t think Germany were better than USA but US had the margins with them. Yes we are talking about the football giant Germany, men and women, and then they are hiring a completely noob as the coach for the women’s team, where’s the logic? Not surprised that the attendance’s so low, I mean, people will have to watch Peter in the heart of defense where most of them could’ve done better, why come and watch then lol Germany have athletic players like Elsig, Simon, Kemme, Gössling, Laudehr, Popp, Maier... but the class trio of Marozsan, Magull and Dallmann aren’t that physical strong as I would like them to be. Germany have a lot of physical athletic players, just doesn’t look like it because the forwards and midfields have to run way too much to help out Peter and company gassing them totally out since... you know
just wonder if the men winning the WC in 2114 had an adverse effect for the women as the German public might of stopped paying as much attention to them anymore. Previous to that event it seemed like we saw bigger crowds in pro as well as NT games, plus Alushi in tv commercials(like the locker room scene with Ozil) as well as mag covers like the infamous playboy one with youth players like Julia Simic. As for the SBC, I just call it the Cup of bad coaches as I think the trend is to hire female coaches over better male ones(as England has yet to announce the Phil Neville signing). No matter how bad these coaches do(like Ellis & Jones in 2017), they don't seem to get fired. I bet the French/Diacre, can loose as many games as she wants without getting fired, yet the previous coach got canned after only loosing one game in 15 & that, by a score of 0-1. I'm looking more forward to see what Pernille Harder can do vs the USWNT this Sunday(but then again, Denmark is going to miss their 2nd best player in Veje). Shame that Jones is keeping her team under wraps until the SBC. If Jones wants to look better, she got to design a way to beat the US. something that even Neid seem to give up on in her last encounters.
yes, it's sad to see women's football being neglected that much in Germany, but I'm not surprised given the fact that the team is a mess, and really who wants to go to NT matches watching Peter playing when very decent players can do a better job themselves?? there's a player pool in Germany to create the best team in the world, winning the WC 2019 but with Steffi (and her right hand Peter....) this won't ever happen i think of German football as a steam engine, being really well at every aspect of the game, this team looks more like a swiss cheese with more holes than actual cheese
Thomsen@ Peter might of met her match in the French Gk, Bouhaddi, lol 954812113096249344 is not a valid tweet id
not sure if this was Mandy Islacker from earlier times, but if it was, I Thomsen@ I wouldn't be criticizing her play any more, lol https://www.instagram.com/p/BeLbVwqBu1M/?taken-by=mandy_islacker
Islacker has no business in the NT, doesn't possess any skills that's gonna help the team. Her job is to score goals, she doesn't then why is she in the team? Jones played her out left against France, I know you think she looked good against France hotjam but everyone looked decent against a disgraceful France, even Peter didn't look as confused as usual against France because she was barely challenged Only thing I know is that Popp should be played up front alone and Kemme to play DM
considering that Bouhaddi shows glimpses of class, it's not fair to compare her to Peter lol yes Bouhaddi does poor mistakes at times but Peter does them every single game
as I've mentioned in the Friendlies threat, playing an intense high press is become an big factor in woso these days. Islacker proved herself in that department, holding back their FB, (former u17 # u20 WC mvp) M'Bock from becoming influential. There's plenty that have tried previously at outside left-mid,; Magull, Dabritz, Kemme or even try Laudehr, but none of them have really owned it or proven themselves at that spot not sure why France isn't currently ticking.anymore, but they didn't look impressive in either their last two friendlies(two ties at home). They were previously a strong friendlies squad but that mostly due that they started 7-8 players from the same club(Lyon) so their chemistry was all ready in place/ Their new coach seems to give players from other clubs more of a try these days
but neither Magull, Dabritz, Kemme or Laudehr have not played against opposition as weak as France. M’bock (in my opinion) isn’t that great playing LB either, she’s way better partnering Renard. the only ones i liked in the France game were Popp, Kemme and Hendrich... Kemme as DM, she has the physicality and stamina to play there, good 1v1, good at tackles and in the air, brings much needed protection for you know who's behind there "covering" the back lol I saw Peter in the starting eleven of Wolfsburg for a test game,, isn’t she ever gonna get benched for Wolfsburg or NT? but considering what i saw from her in 2017 i guess there’s no way to but up also excited for what Steffi does this year lol... first NT game against US in about a month, new faces or is she gonna finally choose her squad??
Jones will only have one week to fly over there & prepare for Sheba. I hope she switches to Meinert's style of 2014 u20 with high pressing & long balls for quick counters, it be the only way to beat the US. Probably would have to add another fwd in lieu of a 2nd DM though. Main thing, don't do what idiotically Denmark did: hold on to the ball while deep in your own side
why would she switch to the Meinert style now? doubt she'll do that. I just hope Germany loses every game there, then they might fire Jones or is it decided that she's gonna continue to a potential world cup?
so i watched parts of the 2nd half against France again.. 28:40 Maro too slow, not catching the French up, then getting past Maro with ease... I mean Maro shouldn't play double 6 lol... Kemme not able to fix it either, uncharacteristically from her in that game, and whoops there you have Peter completely out of position... literally what a fast counter attacking team want 30:30 whoops Peter under a bit of pressure and kicks the ball away to France 30:53 Peter not where she's supposed to be, way too late. Then there's a 3 vs 3 situation... 33:08 Peter missing the ball, clearing it in her own penalty box, luckily no French there 37:22 Peter running away from the player she's supposed to mark huh? I think Leo confirmed she's the best right back in Germany... she might not be as spectacular as she was before but she marks the players she's supposed to mark, runs back unlike Blässe... despite that penalty she made. Simon is clearly the superior option at LB instead of Faisst. Despite Jones and co "analyzing" the games they still don't get that Maro's wasted down there and Peter not being anywhere near NT quality? I'll give the French for their acting that game, they were brilliant! What was that witch dance on corners all about though?
the "witch dance" I would say is to get Renard free or unmarked(during corners) but can't help but wonder if she's going to feel a little dizzy coming out of that merry-go-round? Maro got credited with two assists vs France & that long, outlet pass to Huth(for one of her goals) is just what the doctor ordered if your going to try and beat high pressing NT's like the US & Australia. But true, Maro can be a hindrance with being a bit slow/or just not attentive to what's going on, as one of Denmark's goals in the Euro quarters came from her not paying attention(she turned away from the play, thinking a whistle was blown). But she does take all the free kicks, & some of them, quite accurately. I can understand that Maier is a good little attacker, but defensive wise I've seen her being took out to the cleaners a bit too many times. Obviously vs Le Sommer(giving up the PK) but against Iceland(when Jensen scored against her) & even in the US/WC semi, when she picked up an early yellow vs Rapinoe, stopping her after that from moving up to becoming a serious offensive threat. But give her credit for winning gold at the 2016 Olympics, though our German aficionado's don't seem impressed by that medal.
But defensively she does everything she's supposed to do, Maier. Running back, marking her players... yes I agree she's been beaten a couple of times in 1v1 but she's still a clearly superior option than Blässe lol... it wasn't Maier's yellow card that was the reason why they lost or why she didn't get forward as much as she used to, she had to be back there and defend after US got that first goal because the Germans were pumped then... While I do believe US was a bit better than Germany, all the crucial calls from the referee went the Americans way...
