He was bad. Not all young players get criticized when they play.

He wasn't that bad. There was nobody really covering him and the goal scored was from a ball that Miazga headed out of the box to a player who was unmarked. He wasn't the reason for Chelsea failing to win that game, he was the scapegoat.

  3. I donot understand what you mean.

 No one is claiming he lost Chelsea the game, that's just complete bullshit.
He was however beaten for pace repeatedly and picked up a yellow during one of those runs. When a CB is getting beat for pace repeatedly it either shows his positional sense is wanting or he's slow, except that we didn't play a particularly high line.

I didn't see any complaints after he made his debut against Aston Villa. If he was such a bad player, why didn't anybody say anything then?

That's circular logic. You are using the decision to take him off....to justify the decision to take him off.

I'm claiming he was scapegoated as a new player because he was mediocre to a little sub-par and things weren't going well for the team. He was not beaten for pace repeatedly. It was once or twice in the open field by one of the more dangerous offensive players in the EPL at the time in Montero. Had just seen him roast Cameron and co. Doesn't play more because he's extremely lazy defensively. The goal Matt was involved in was a stretch header that he only could have put just outside the box. Guilt by association.

Also, it was an INCREDIBLY short leash. Half season? Talk about hyperbole and a straw man. He played merely adequately for a half game and they pulled him. Chelsea weren't going to make Europe or get relegated at that point. He could have played the rest of that game and another one as a best of 3 to evaluate his abilities. They still lost the Swansea match because they didn't bring on an attacker and scored zero goals to the Swan's whole 1.

The more I see of Miazga, the more I want him with the NT. He seems composed and good coming out of the back.

The Ajax goal though, that defense (including Matt) was just ball-watching.

    Vitesse are 3rd.

  9. Ajax – Vitesse 1-2
    Ajax: Onana 5; Veltman 5, De Ligt 5 (34. Dolberg 5), Viergever 5, Dijks 4; De Jong 4,5, Van de Beek 4,5 (46. Schöne 5), Ziyech 5; Kluivert 5 (67. Cerny -), Huntelaar 5, Younes 4.
    Vitesse: Pasveer 6; Dabo 6, Kashia 7,5, Miazga 8, Faye 6; Bruns 6,5, Serero 8 (59. Ali 6), Foor 6,5; Rashica 7 (81. Van der Werff -), Matavz 6, Linssen 6 (63. Castaignos -).
    Arbiter: Van Boekel 7

  12. Thought he had an 8 last year too, iirc.
But against Ajax in Amsterdam is a great feat.

This big match nr 2 in a few days time and sunday already big match nr 3 against fc Utrecht, that got spanked 1-7 against PSV. The numbers are deceiving as it easily could have been 7-7. The strikers of Utrecht were a bit unlucky. So not an easy job waits after the Nice job for MM.
But hey, can't see him complain. This is why you are pro, play matches that matter. Test of endurance with 3 biggies in 8 days time.

That's pretty much the Ajax factor. Keep KJH and crew down to 1 goal, you get the glory. (And Kashia scored, so...) Still great for him and Vitesse. It will up his Q for sure.

I get that it's a Shining reference, but I don't get why it pertains to Matt.

    Am I just slow?

That Huntelaar and Dolberg had so much trouble, shows his worth
