1-1 tie on a 90 min PK. Sound from the few match reports I saw that he did ok. Had a goal-saving block late in game. Kashia gave up the PK that Leemans sank to earn the tie.

Ered stacked after only 5 games (not surprising) Arnhem keep the pace in a 3 way tie on points for 5th with 10. Feynie and PSV have 12.

Have to wonder how much the midweek game contributed to the late PK. Sounded like the defending at the end of today was a bit hurlyburly.

  7. AS Sportwereld rating:
    Vitesse – VVV-Venlo 1-1
    Vitesse: Pasveer 6; Dabo 5 (38. Colkett 6), Kashia 5, Miazga 6, Büttner 6; Bruns 5,5 (71. Castaignos -), Van der Werff 5, Foor 5,5; Rashica 6, Matavz 7, Linssen 6.
    VVV-Venlo: Unnerstall 7; Rutten 6, Röseler 6, Promes 6 (75. Nwakali -), Labylle 6 (62. Van Bruggen -); Seuntjens 6, Post 6, Leemans 7; Tissoudali 5 (46. Opoku 6), Thy 6, Hunte 5,5.
    Arbiter: Higler 6

FWIW MM has out-ranked vdW (not to hard after mid-week game) and is about = to Kashia. Dabo continues to underwhelm.

He's been as good as or better than all their center backs since last season. The players who had contracts with them just got first dibs to prove otherwise.

that chelsea-arsenal 0-0 match today was quite a snoozer.....barely watchable. personally, I find it hard to beleive MM couldnt have played in that match and done alright.

I think this is not demonstrably true re. Kashia. That guy had a pretty solid season with Vitesse last year. MM is at this point clearly playing better than vdWerff and is, in general, more athletic than Kruiswijk if not as experienced. Whether MM keeps his slot over Kruiswijk remains to be seen. Buttner looking like he'll keep the LB slot. Dabo has not be all that impressive in the few games I've seen this year. Can obviously contribute going forward, but Lazio was abusing his side and he never looks all that comfortable defending, which is a bit disconcerting in a RB.

  13. Coach Fraser of Vitesse pissed by management trying to determine the play and line up of the team. Wonder how long it will take till Fraser jumps into another club?

Apparently it was 5 - 3 on penalty kicks so Swift had no trouble converting.

They lost to an amateur side from the fifth-level division (Hoofdklasse). This must be a first for the defending champs.

Unlike other cups, the Pine Cone Cup usually involves A-teams (or almost), so surprises as big as this one are rare.

Just to add salt to the wound, the Hoofdklasse is the 2nd highest amateur league in the Netherlands. Not even the top amateur league.

  22. 95 clubs between Vitesse and Swift.

Well, a few years back Alcorcon from the Segunda B (third division) beat almighty Real Madrid with their A-team 4-0, in a game the small team dominated for the Copa del Rey.

This is almost comparable, although from reports looks like Vitesse dominated and we unlucky not to score.
