In the Land Grant presentation he specifically talked about a roof. Said all real soccer stadiums have them, or words to that effect. So, from his Argentine soccer fan architect's perspective, I think we're in good shape. Of course, it's the client who, in the end, makes those decisions. I can't imagine we won't have a wrap around roof of some sort.
Because it can be very, very expensive. The NFL can pay for that. MLS? Not so much. I heard the same thing at mine--but also that there would not be a "full" roof (i.e. over everything--as in a dome) due to cost. As I noted above.
It works for Atlanta? You mean the team that shares an indoor complex on artificial turf with an NFL football team? Plus, its Alanta fer crying out loud, why indoors? Natural grass all day every day, or GTFO. These artificial turfs have some nice stadiums built around them, but at the end of the day, I want the best pitch. MLS does not share the same interest.
I’m only saying that Atlanta fans know they will be protected from the elements. They’re more likely to attend a game for that reason. A roof that doesn’t actually protect fans from elements is faux and only done to fool new customers. They’ll catch on soon enough.
Could have posted this in attendance thread too but .... This is a great look into ticket pricing in Germany. Of course MLS structure is the antithesis of Bundlesliga (single entity vs 50+1 rule). But I love the messaging of the Bayern Munich fans at Arsenal Champions League game- "64 Euros a ticket - Football without fans is not worth a penny". https://www.pastemagazine.com/artic...imer-why-are-bundesliga-ticket-prices-so.html I think FCC's ticket pricing might be proving to MLS that - priced right - droves of fans will come. Would be interesting if new ownership adopts some form of ticket pricing overhaul. Either when new stadium opens, or for last few seasons in the Fre.
Compare FC Cincinnati's current pricing scheme with what previous Crew front office staff - specifically Mark McCullers, I think - have said in that past that tickets priced below where they were priced at the time would devalue the product and wouldn't be something a "major league" team should do.
But FCC plans on jacking up ticket prices over the next two seasons to MLS levels. Does Seattle or Atlanta have a deeply discounted ticket pricing structure?
Lower ticket prices get them in the door,Beer and Food concessions make money! At least more money than empty seats and no beer and Food sales! Don't forget scrafs, hats and jerseys to wear to games.
Do we know that for sure? And if even so, can Crew do a temporary discount for next season? Would that be a good strategy? Fill the Fre and build excitement for new stadium.
I couldn't find it quickly, but I think it's been reported FC Cincinnati intends to increase their prices from USL levels to "typical" MLS levels over a three-year period. I remember reading some of their tickets doubled in price - general admission, maybe - and are still less than half the average MLS ticket price.
Yeah.... a *major league* team would never dare make a secondary jersey not in the teams colors and based on a flag [emoji849] such a tired argument
And I have to assume that the Barcelona flag, which uses the same colors as the Catalan flag, has just a touch more historical significance than does the Columbus flag.
I wouldn't be opposed to a "For Ohio" alternate that uses the Ohio Pennant. Let's stick to the team down south. OHIO is for the CREW! HELL IS REAL!
For being such an "atrocious" jersey, I still see a lot of them (and the hats) in the stands. Honestly, I think without the totally mismatched shorts that look to be part of a U-9 girls uniform, the jerseys aren't as bad as they're made out to be. Yes, they're a totally different radical design (designed by Jay's wife) but the shirts aren't F- material.
They are pretty bad. Sans the sky blue shorts, and without the red, maybe. At least they aren’t verde green and toxic waste dump black.
Agreed had the stripes been black instead of red and the shorts not blue it would look nice it was the color way that made this kit look atrocious, horrifying, disgusting etc....
