Orlando, LAFC, and Minnesota all have / will have safe standing. Not crazy to move in that direction. I'd be all for it.

Also, I don't care about other uses of the stadium. Thinking about other shit is why we have that god awful stage at Mapfre. I don't think anyone likes it. Such MLS 1.0 thinking. I highly doubt that mistake is made again.

I'm still curious about what other sites could possibly be in play? They're acting like theres multiple options and that it's not a definite thing yet. Do we believe this? Is it more likely than not that they just dont want to announce anything but there most likely is a decided upon spot? I would think if negotiations are as far as they are....MLS would have approved one specific, particular spot. No way of knowing though.

I'm still interested in Franklinton too and the possibilities for Dodge Park. Being a neighborhood thats revitalization is still early on.... a lot of planned development will probably be finished by the time a stadium is finished. I would love to know just what all land would/could be available and the possibilities and/or limitations there.

They won’t announce anything until they have their plans done. Property values are changed dramatically by proximity to any major development and they, and others, will want to capitalize on it before any speculators can start to drive pricing.

I'm not sure this was MLS 1.0 thinking, the stage happened (as you know) well after Crew Stadium was built. It was an action in response to Germain being closed. It was another avenue of revenue stream, and no one else could really do it except Crew Stadium.

I don't blame them for this. Unfortunately, they didn't do anything to make it better (temp seating during gamedays, etc.).

Stages were probably MLS 1.5 or possibly 2.0 thinking. MLS 1.0 thinking was probably more like "don't go under due to paying rents to NFL stadium owners."

A stage with some sort of modular/temp seating could possibly work.

How about seating that can temporarily turn into a stage?

I'm not sure a stage isn't a must have from a financial viability standpoint. Rock on the Range is a huge deal and they want to expand. A move to a downtown stadium that can leverage the LC Pavilion, convention center and small venue bars down there to a festival is very appealing. Add in big summer concert tours and smaller festivals and you get to sell 200K more tickets, that's 10 MLS game's worth. Lots more concessions too.

Hoping for an easy route to expansion to 25K-28K capacity. If they have to build it at 20K-22K to start I hope it is designed that over an off-season they could add seating, maybe in stages.

    Wi-fi

A real style to the facade and layout. Quirky asymmetrical layout (especially to accommodate future expansion of seating).. Stone/Brick/LED/metalwork to make it a distinctive looking building.

KC Stadium appears to have removable seating to have a stage for concerts.

    Capacity:
    18,467 (soccer)
    25,000 (concerts)

A parking plan designed for getting people in and out with minimal issue.

WiFi or at least cell tower repeaters that boost signal during events.

Seat backs that are not a bright color! I have always felt that bright yellow makes the stadium look far emptier than it really is.

It would also be nice if there was a way to get seats to dry faster when it rains

The cell issue around the stadium isn't coverage it's capacity. The area is not designed to serve the number of people. When no one is around is fine. WiFi has the same issues if designed only for coverage and not capacity.

I've thought this same thing. They should consider the optics and how you can make things look better be it on TV or in pictures. I like some of the design in this stadium...

I like idea of having one side just be one tier and that can be the side where the cameras are so they're facing the two tiered side. Above that one tier, you can fit a bunch of boxes/suites.

I also think a more busy and disruptive looking seat color pattern like that would help mitigate any emptiness for any lesser attended games (although the hope is that becomes less of an issue). Plus I personally just think it looks cool but thats just me.

Is that what Minnesota is going for with their seat colors? They seem to randomly change from seat to seat.

Is that the arena in Duesseldorf?? If so, I've been there.... Saw Bobby Wood play for 1860 Munich there.

    I figured that out-later.

There's a fair bit of similarity (not the same architect tho)--same kind of seat setup.

One more must have I thought of.

We must continue to have the best quality pitch in the league!

This is my legit answer. Especially after watching that burnt out pitch at DC's new crown jewel.

My joke answer after last night is a statue of Zack saving that Rooney penalty.

Not as crazy as it sounds. There are a couple of those kind of things around the country for various sports for that kind of play....
Two examples (both OT goals in the Stanley Cup playoffs):
