Well if they get the deal done by the end of the week like Kerr said, maybe they could try to have the official ground breaking the next Saturday before the DC game. Wishful thinking I know, but I really want the ground breaking to be either on a weekend or an evening so that more people can be there.
Agreed. I have been hinting that all along. The afternoon before the last home game of the season would be awesome. I'm sure Robb is probably thinking the same type of deal....at least the "gold shovel" ceremony could be held, even if they aren't really ready to start up the bulldozers. If they know it's a done deal, you would think they could set something up. Drop a few hints, Mike.....
I can't wait for the day to come when there will be no more need for this thread. It seriously feels like I have been checking this thread for a decade now.
And oddly, if you click on that link you should see a beautiful SAP banner of mine. That kind of creeped me out.
Kansas makes incentive offer to Cerner, Wizards, for Village West development Good news, I think? The fact the caption on the small stadium image is "Is the offer good enough?" makes me wonder a bit, but I didn't see anything that was missing (in the offer) from what the article said.
So they'd get $144.5 million in STAR Bonds, $10.5 million less than the Wizards had dropped their request to last week. But I don't remember anything about the state tax incentives in previous write ups. Hopefully that's enough for the Wizards/OnGoal...
3 Trails isn't happening (at least until 2012) without the city backing the bonds for the project, which they aren't going to do. Downtown just isn't happening period.
The Kansas financing proposal made the front page of the print version of the Star today. However, I can't seem to find the same article on their website. It was written by somebody other than Collison, and included a statement from Robb about now having the legal team look over the proposal, since there were some different incentive features included that weren't previously included in STAR bond deals. Rep to anybody who can locate it....
Yeah, public radio had a brief segment this morning on it. They stated that the offer was $10 million less then what was originally asked for, but it sounded like the tax credits were a new thing and that the next move will come from OnGoal/Cerner.... Insert 'an announcement will be made in 60-90 days' joke here...
Robb mentioned either here or in the other "Final Push" thread that if dirt isn't moving by the end of the year, they are behind. I would expect that we will hear something from OnGoal/Cerner pretty quickly. In tennis terms, I would hope they are at the net volleying everything back as quickly as Kansas/KCK/WYCO can lob it to them. I love the fact that this is a "shovel-ready" project....no waiting on other things to develop like Three Trails. When this finally gets started, we will see progress from day one. The slightly weird aspect for me is that I grew up playing soccer at the field at WYCO Park, and now there is a very real possiblity of watching pro soccer in a brand new stadium just a mile or two east of it. Wow.
SOUNDS like GOOD NEWS so far. My version of your last statement. The slightly weird aspect for me is that when I grew up, there probably wasn't a soccer field in Johnson County. My first soccer experience was at KU on a field hockey field just East of Allen Field House. And now there are soccer fields everywhere, including a very real possiblity of watching pro soccer in a brand new stadium just a mile or five north of it. Wow.
Too bad he is a DC supporter . Joke aside, i think it is a shame that DC is still strugling with their stadium. They deserve anything of their own, even if its a smaller and less pretty stadium than NY's. Any news about OnGoal Response?. I'm bitting my nails since last week.
Yes. We are withholding for the highest offer so that we can buy some goalscoring for the team next season. You should be down to the quick by now.....
