Looking at it as i ride by on the train, I overestimated the distance between the concessions and the new curb. Probably only about 30 ft.
Okay i see. Audi is completely ground level. well it will be a long while until we'll have any need for stadium expansion.
With luck, though, they will have designed the stadium so that future expansion can tie into the existing structure for additional support.
Actually, there is still a small piece of the original fence by the Providence health end. The new fence will align with it. Street side pillars protrude into the sidewalk space and the sidewalk has been extended to take up the old parking lane . The new sidewalk is about 15 feet wide now. When it is done, 18th st. Will have the trolley lane and a car lane, but no parking on the stadium side.
My Dad will be happy when the construction is done (he takes the blue line home to Beaverton every day past the stadium, says its getting a bit crowded through there).
I'm not quite sure how to parse that. Yes the blue line trains through there are packed (that's the train I take), but I am pretty sure the stadium construction has nothing to do with that. There was some train line construction a couple weeks back that disrupted service through that section, and they decided to do it then because stuff was already torn up for the stadium construction, but they would have done the work soon regardless. The trains through that area are crowded because getting between downtown and Beaverton or Hillsboro requires you either take one of those trains, or drive down an equally slow highway. So a lot of people cut out the hassle of sitting in traffic, and hop on a train where you can read a book, etc. while commuting.
I think this is what he was referring too. Also he just likes to "people-watch" when he's not reading on the train so he notices that the street in general has become busier as the construction has displaced other things in the area (like the parking lane for example).
During the week the street is closed to auto traffic during working hours. They use the lane as a staging area for the steel delivery and concrete trucks. You can see the stacked barricades in the last photo I posted. Busses and the Max line share the track lane.
I'm curious, did Portland not open the far side of Providence Park for their US Open Cup game due to the construction work that is done during the week?
More likely they didn’t open it because they didn’t sell enough tIckets for a second round open cup match that is usually reserves playing. Open cup games are not part of the season ticket package. But maybe they didn’t want clear the construction area twice in one week.
Wrong, they are a part of the season ticket package. That's how I got mine. They announced the reason as being the construction.
My bad. At this point I’m sharing. ( hope that changes with construction) I must have been thinking of playoffs.
Yeah, playoffs aren't included (first shot at purchasing though), and later rounds of the us open cup wouldn't be included, but these early ones are.
So if this game was included in the season tickets package (like the poster above says) then the attendance for this game must be turnstile, because I am pretty confident they have more than 13k ticket holders.
I don't know if it is allowed or not, but that crane would be a pretty cool place to drape some tifo.
Agreed, but that probably would not be allowed because of the construction company potentially being liable.
They've continued to build out their scaffolding, covering about 3/4 of the area behind the existing roof so far.
