That's why I said normal capacity regarding the 75/80k. One would've thought the Cowboys would be able to draw 90k on a regular basis.
here's a site that's usefull, though it hasn't been updated in a while: http://www.stadiumguide.com/index.htm
above all it doesn't have anything about OL's new stadium planned for 2011... here's our thread about it: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=597120
It'll give Jerry Jones a good excuse to go up on the ticket prices. It's my understanding that the suites are how you make the big money. There are 200 in the new stadium. How does that compare to other stadiums?
Check out this guy. He's a bit of a legend. Archibald_Leitch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archibald_Leitch
Has anyone seen the show "Build it Bigger"? They did an episode on the new Washington Nationals' stadium...to get it built in two years they had to start building before the designs were finalized, so they built it in stages. Pretty neat to watch.
UPDATE: Photos of the Beijing Water Cube, with some pix of the Bird's Nest nearby Pretty great. And amazing bird's nest construction photos here
From what I've heard not only does the NFL have a minimum seating capacity but it also has a maximum seating capacity. The Redskins had to get special permission to go to 90K. I don't know the fine details or why any other teams hasn't gotten permission though.
are you sure? neither the rams or the raiders could ever even get the coliseum HALF-full, and when the rams moved to anaheim they couldn't fill that place either.
I heard on the radio the other day that some real estate investor is willing to build a stadium w/o public funding if LA gets a team.
Of course man! Stadiums in Japan are never fancy. They make good automobiles, cameras, stereos, photocopy machines, printer, etc... but they constucted poor stadiums in 2002.
I just opened up Opera on an old computer and saw that I was on the Post Reply page for this thread, but never posted a comment... I think I wanted to say that I hate the new Meadowlands Stadium. I'm not one of those people who insists teams don't need new stadiums and if large sections of concrete aren't falling apart(as opposed to the smaller pieces at RFK) it's all good, but this stadium looks like it's a stadium just to be a new stadium. The exterior is slightly better, but it's the same cavernous bowls. It doesn't add anything and some seats are supposed to be farther away. At least the field is larger so it can better suit soccer. One would think they would have been able to come up with a better design. This comes across as another FedEx Field(a stadium just to get a stadium built - although that nearly doubled RFK's capacity). If Danny had been around then, I doubt he would have settled for what the Hogs have now. For whatever reason, it upsets me that the NY/NJ market couldn't get better and/or wasn't looking for more from the stadium.
that image reminds me so much of how the interior of CBP is laid out (night and day on the exterior, however). big blank wall at dead-center. larger than life jumbo-tron above the seats in left. angled setbacks along the base lines and the dugouts. hell, even the way the grass is mowed is similar.
