Pallotta tends to voice hollow optimism, so I don't necessarily take his statement as a promising sign.
There will still be an AS Roma without the new stadium and without Pallotta as owner, it would likely be weaker than it is now without the investment, brand development and prospects Pallotta has brought, but it will survive one way or another. After all, we have played at the Olimpico since 1953. However, any hopes of becoming one of the most powerful clubs in Europe would almost certainly evaporate. It is improbable a wealthy foreign investor would invest in Roma after what would have caused Pallotta to leave, without considering that Italy is generally an unattractive country for foreigners to invest in. I think that without a revolution of some kind Italian football will increasingly occupy a relatively peripheral role in European football.
It's not talking a big game that he does. He says things he obviously doesn't believe (and nobody believes). Like in 2012, he said money wasn't a problem, but we weren't exactly rolling in it, which everyone knew. Don't say we won't sell Alisson. We all understand that there are very few clubs that aren't "selling clubs," and he's one of the best. It's that Teflon talking head thing Americans do, but it's not well-received in Italy. He gives that hornets nest of journos and fans who want to complain a jumping off point.
yup, as I just said in the transfer thread JP still haven't picked up on the difference in the US and Italy. In the US if an owner said anything other than "I expect us to compete for the championship" he'd be raked over the coals. In the US it's viewed as a winners mentality. In Italy they take it as gospel.
Yeah he is arrogant. I think not knowing how to communicate or deal in Italian or with other Europeans doesn’t help much either. I’m not sure how the American owners are in the EPL even though I’ve heard them a few times in interviews but at least they all speak English. Something always gets lost in the translation in Italy though. I really believe that has a lot to do with success or failure.

Well, obiously. But how long will it take to see if there was really nothing wrong? I always thought Java is being way too pessimistic about this project but this shit now could turn out as a huge blow.

I’m wondering if that statement came from yesterday because they just showed Virginia Raggi on Rai TG2 but she was talking mostly about how Rome's Jewish community was disgraced about something. I was half asleep so I didn’t pick up the whole thing but there was no mention on the news about the stadium. I am thinking they may tell her to keep quiet about the stadium issue for now.
Looks like it could take up to 2022 to make sure there is no other issues. lol What a joke. A true banana republic.
It will either start this year or not at all. Baldissoni told Raggi Pallotta's patience has run out.. it's now or never.
Not gunna lie, you two having the exact same avatar kinda throws me off. Also, I’ve decided to not be pessimistic nor optimistic about the stadium. I’m just not going to give it any headspace. It’s pretty clear that it’s a waste of time thinking about it either way. If it happens, cool. But, meanwhile, we still have a big offseason ahead of us.
I understand how you feel, but without the stadium there will be a relatively limited glass ceiling placed on the club in terms of competitiveness for the forseeable future and we will also likely need a new owner, which will be tricky because I doubt foreign investors would be prepared to invest seeing the problems Pallotta has encountered.
LMAO.. because of the latest delays Pallotta has suspended his donation to the renovation of the fountain at the Pantheon.
