My God, this may actually happen. I still have my doubts and heaven help us if they come upon some piece of broken pottery
That has been my main fear the whole time. Chances are given the city and history they most likely will.
I'm hoping that since there was already a race track built there and they didn't find anything we are safe. That said this is far bigger than that so no telling.. Oh well, maybe Cristian Totti will play in the first match there.
No words... Politician claims #StadiodellaRoma project is being set up to fail by Mayor Virginia Raggi https://t.co/iVed8098FS #ASRoma #SerieA pic.twitter.com/Zil072i488— Football Italia (@footballitalia) August 6, 2017
Every time I think we have the most useless politicians, Italy always reminds me that it's not even a competition.
Honestly, I think it's BS. Raggi and company know that if Pallotta can't build the stadium he will walk. And he'll sell the club for peanuts too. They don't want to be held responsible for the destruction and devaluation of one of the biggest clubs in Italy.
Or they will be hailed as the heroes who kicked the Yankees out of town and restored the identity and culture of AS Roma.
You mean the identity of a club that has won exactly 3 championships in 90 years? I'm kinda' hoping for more.
Also possible. I still have a feeling the stadium will ultimately be built. But I also have a feeling we will sign Mahrez, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
LOL.. how could I forget that. I mean, wasn't this the first time in 90 years Roma have changed their logo.
I picture Rome being like the town in My Cousin Vinny and Pallotta is Joe Pesci. It kind of feels like they'd rather spin wheels than have a foreigner help the economy and infrastructure join this century.
It's a different culture for sure. Too often Italians feel that if somebody is profiting from something and they are not it's wrong. Even if you are not being harmed or it costs you nothing, the fact somebody is benefiting and others are not is somehow wrong. If JP leaves I doubt anybody else will come in willing to do the hard work to try and bring Roma to that next level.
All of the Italians throwing their name in the hat while Unicredit owned us did it just for the publicity.
I can't imagine any Italians willing to throw the kind of money that Pallotta would ask for. At best we'd end up with another Sensi who would need more loans just to keep the lights on.
Some people believe the M5S government has setup the project to fail in a manner where their hands are clean. They revised the project removing the skyscrapers, as a concession to the builders for losing the towers most of the infrastructure projects were gutted. The result is a project that won’t (and probably should not in it’s current state) be approved. If they are that smart I will leave for you to decide. ** Edit ** Looks like Pallotta said as much.
I don't understand what the hold up is now. What approval do they need next? And how many more until they actually begin work?
If Pallotta came out and said he would bank role the whole stadium himself nobody would complain. The city does not want to pay for shit and to be honest thats the stance that every city with a major sports team should have. These people have the money and the resources to do a stadium project without money being given to them by local governments.
They are paying for everything. I'm not sure of the final details but at one point they agreed to even pay for the rail and roads. Any other city would throw that type of owner a parade.. Rome give him nothing but problems.
Come on man, you know how the government over there works. As one of my cousins in Rome says, "If it takes 6 months in the US, it takes 6 years in Italy."
