    Nubel would be stupid to go anywhere where he won't be #1.

    Nubel should Sign the contract and in 2021 he can join Bayern as Neuer will be 35 by then...if he really wants to leave Schalke for champions league football then he should join Leipzig next season to play under Nagelsman

    Pollersbeck who was #1 for the U21 Euro 2017 has lost his place at HSV and is now playing RL. He needs to leave.

    while F.Muller who was Mainz #1 and U21 Euro 2019 #2, lost his place due to not so great form, more towards mixed. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if his constant injuries over last few years made him regress.

    and more reason why I prefer Nubel stay at Schalke, don't go to clubs with more higher standards. Should focus on getting consistent first and more experience.

    and another remainder that GK dev is the most annoying position even worse than CF since only 1 gets to play. Subbed GK=Injured GK......why it's a boring position to follow. I still think we have lots of interesting up and coming GKs but who the hell knows when they'll ever reach 1BL.

    Pollersbeck has been a huge flop after his time with the U21's. He's a mediocre at best keeper and 2BL looks to be his level perhaps at a smaller club.

    the reality of Pollersbeck is simple, we all know that between Leno/Trapp/ter Stegen/Baumann/Horn/Schwolow etc and then to Nubel nothing but eh/meh to okay GKs. From that list even Horn had tons of inconsistencies. That has been a major issue and outside of ter Stegen none world class GKs from those 90-96 GKs and F.Muller seems to be the best 97 GK. Although it's early to know whether Nubel will be great GK or only good one as he became #1 last season and still young. Now we have to go to 98-onwards for the next crop.

    94-Zentner who embarrassed himself in the past is now back to Mainz #1. Another nothing amazing GK is 94-Huth from Paderborn. Funny part is that the GK who seems to be the better one from that group is 94Vlachodimos who switched to Greece LOL.

    I noticed that Fahrmann played 2 games for Norwich City and conceded 2 goals. Seems like he made his EPL debut on Sept 28.

    it's weird in retrospect.
    Pollersbeck=2BL flop
    Zentner=1BL
    Huth=1BL
    Vlachodimos=Portuguese 1st division

    the guy who was #1 from that age group for U21 was the flop from his age group.

    guys like 95-Schwabe and all those Eredivisie GKs are all meh ones tbh, guys like Zetterer, Unnerstall, Wellenreuther, Hamrol, Blaswich, Kirschbaum.

    if one looks at other 97 besides F.Muller you end up with are Kiel's 97-Reimann who looks to have lost his place as Kiel #1 and Pauli's bench GK 97-Brodersen (currently injured) who didn't impress when given the chance. I'm curious to see if 97-Nicolas gets any chances at Union Berlin as current #2 or not. The rest of 97s seem to be basically 3rd Liga and lower I believe.

    it really really goes 98-onwards.

    this is only good news to 98-Schubert but not as much for German football. So a promising new GK will go to Bayern to be bencher for next 2-3 years which will also be a block to someone like Fruchtl as well. Fruchtl is now better off trying to move up after this season in 3rd Liga.

    If Germany has a reputation for producing more than its fair share of top-class goalkeepers, Schalke is the country's sweetspot, with the likes of Manuel Neuer, Jens Lehmann, Oliver Reck and Frank Rost all forged in the Royal Blues' talent mine. And in current No.1 and captain Alexander Nübel, they appear to have unearthed another gem.

    bundesliga.com takes a closer look at the next man filling Neuer's gloves in Gelsenkirchen…

    Alexander Nübel

    Age: 23
    Club: Schalke
    Position: Goalkeeper
    Country: Germany (17 U21 international caps)

    Key stats

    Perhaps you're thinking comparisons to Neuer, who emerged over a decade ago now, are premature. Think again. The 6'4" stopper made his Bundesliga debut on Matchday 34 of the 2015/16 season in a 4-1 win over Hoffenheim at the age of just 19. Nübel had two wait another two years for his next top-flight outing, but was ready when he received the call, keeping a clean sheet against Eintracht Frankfurt on the last day of the 2017/18 campaign.

    Former Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco sprung a surprise at the start of the second half of last season by naming Nübel in his side to face Wolfsburg, leaving club captain Ralf Fährmann on the bench. The Paderborn native impressed in a 2-1 win, and went on to keep four clean sheets in a further 12 top-flight outings, cementing his position as Royal Blues No.1. With Fährmann moving on, Nübel was named Schalke skipper by new boss David Wagner in summer 2019.

    Plays a bit like: Manuel Neuer

    His surprise promotion is another indication the Germany youth international is treading a similar path to Neuer, who stood in for Rost on a handful of occasions before being promoted to number one midway through the 2006/07 season. When Nübel played for Paderborn's youth team, his teammates nicknamed him 'Manuel' because he reminded them of Neuer, and the similarities do not end there either. In his first six Bundesliga appearances, he saved 80 per cent of the shots on his goal and conceded just four goals – the very same stats as his predecessor. Throw in a UEFA Champions League debut in one of the most intimidating of venues – Galatasaray's Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi, in which he kept a clean sheet and oozed composure – and you can see why such lofty comparisons are being made.

    Did you know?

    Nübel's not only a great goalkeeper – he's pretty nifty with his feet, too. In fact, he was an outfield player up to U14 level. In fact, when he left TSV Tudorf to join Paderborn, the East Westphalian club thought they were acquiring a striker, since that is the position he had filled at his first youth club. He was then transformed into a holding midfielder before Paderborn and the player decided the two-footed talent was also pretty good with his hands, and converted him to a goalkeeper.

    What they're saying

    "Alex was always better with his feet than many of our outfield players – when you had Alex on your team, that was half the job done – you knew you could always pass the ball to him. I can imagine seeing him as Germany number one in future." – former teammate at SC Paderborn Eric Kroll

    "He's a new-generation goalkeeper and one of the best German goalkeepers around. That's why the sky's the limit for him." – Markus Krösche, who coached him at Paderborn in 2014/15

    "Hats off to Alex, he kept us in the game with some massive saves. I won't be changing goalkeepers. I pick the best players." - caretaker Schalke coach Huub Stevens following Nübel's heroics in the 1-0 win against rock bottom Hannover

    "Alex is one of the most talented up-and-coming goalkeepers Germany ever had. He might not be under the spotlight much yet, but he will be soon – I can promise." – Schalke goalkeeper Fährmann

    "You can only speak highly of Alex – he's an incredibly talented goalkeeper, with the world at his feet. He's got an extraordinary footballing ability, but he's also very down to earth and is a great lad." – Klaus Thomforde, Germany's U21 goalkeeper coach

    Alexander Nübel has decided he will not move abroad, although several European clubs are interested. Nübel only has two options for next summer, either extend his contract with Schalke or join Bayern on a free transfer.

    Schalke are offering Nübel a new contract until 2024 with a RC. Bayern's offer is similar to Schalke's in terms of salary and duration. Nübel isn't concerned by money but by his career. He wants to play in the short term but in the long term, make it at a top club like Bayern

    Manuel Neuer's future plays a crucial role in Nübel's decision. Neuer's contract runs until 2021 and could be extended by 2 years, which would mean for Nübel that he would be number 2 for the time being. At Schalke, he's a regular starter and the captain

    Nubel party!!!!

    Kahn praises Nubel and sees him as one for the future.
    https://www.bavarianfootballworks.c...ny-manuel-neuer-marc-andre-ter-stegen-schalke

    Wagner seems to believe that Nubel will extend with Schalke.
    https://bulinews.com/news/3931/david-wagner-believes-schalke-have-a-chance-keeping-alex-nübel

    Uli Stein also praising him.
    https://www.sport1.de/fussball/2019...l-wechsel-zum-fc-bayern-torhueter-soll-zur-em

    Nubel is also Schalke captain at only 23. At this point he should extend, no point of going to Bayern to be on bench. And that he was made captain would make Schalke fans hate him if he left this early.

    Lars Unnerstall, Timon Wellenreuther, Janis Blaswich, Michael Zetterer, Thorsten Kirschbaum… Aan Duitse keepers geen gebrek in de eredivisie. Afgelopen dagen stonden ze alle vijf tussen de palen. Waar komen al die Duitse doelmannen plots vandaan?

    there is also Hamrol at Emmen although seems like he's injured. And then there is also 00-Novakovic at Roda.

    but if only more interesting GKs were to go to Eredivisie instead than those 7.

    1BL clubs want GKs with real pro experience. If you can't get it in 1BL (very hard and limited chances) and there are only a limited options in 2BL for chances. It leaves you with min 3rd Liga in Germany, still too low level. The article you posted pretty much stated that there aren't enough clubs for everyone in Germany, which will force players to leave if they want to play.

    Don't really have anyone specific in mind but a lot of young GKs are being earmarked for loans in Summer.
