Benjamin Henrichs looks like a player stuck in purgatory right now. Lacks fitness beginning the season with injury issues. In the only match he played, the coach used him as a midfielder. Monaco are also awful right now sitting in second last place in the Ligue 1 table.
Mitchell Weiser still has yet to play this season, looks like he's really out of favour at Leverkusen right now
After making a big money move to Dortmund in the summer, it hasn't been a very ideal start for Nico Schulz. Question marks beginning to rise. An unconvincing game against Holland internationally. And the injury hasn't helped either. Seems like the longer that Philipp Max stays at Augsburg, it becomes more and more of a ship is beginning to sail type scenario for him towards the NT picture. So Halstenberg looks to be the best option right now. Robin Gosens still on the outside looking in, despite being a starter for one of the top performing clubs in Serie A. For younger guys, wonder if Mittelstädt can take the next step and become international quality on the senior stage. While Gian-Luca Itter continues to be injury prone since moving to Freiburg. His health and fitness looks to be his biggest problem.
No need to blow up things out of proportion. 1. He played like shit in Holland game, I know, but it's more a one-off. Seriously, playing next to Jonathan Tah who had a stinker of a game, it could influence your game as well. Speaking of which, Tah shouldn't wear NT shirt again ever. 2. He injured, yes. But his replacement in BVB, Hakimi is not lite it as well. Hakimi is a case of so-called modern fullback with fantastic offensive output but with bare-naked defensive capabilities. If anything, Schulz is great at providing attacking assistance with some limitation in his defensive play, just like Hakimi. Things might change if BVB looking at more stable left fullback position this winter break. But as it stands now, I find Schulz will easily slot in starting XI again once fit.
If Gosens pans out on the NT level then I think LB depth is solid enough, between him, Halstenberg, and Schulz. Philipp Max seems to have lost traction. Apparently he's being linked to PSV Eindhoven. If that's what he's happy with then fine, but not necessary a trajectory towards NT ambitions again Seems like Jogi thinks Kehrer at RB is the choice to go with? Not fully convinced there but maybe a case of it is what it is. Would prefer Kimmich at that position. Unless Henrichs makes a major comeback and does well at Leipzig.
Really hopeful with Henrichs, he won the Fritz Walter medal not for nothing. Eh I'm not really high with Schulz. At least for Schulz to perform more decent, he need to play as wing back in 3-4-3. As a LB in 4 back formation he is a lost cause
Klostermann is only 25…he is tall, physical, fast and good enough at defending as a side back..but his offensive contribution is close to zero…can he improve his attacking side of the game?
Now that Leipzig has signed Benny Henrichs permanently, I'm curious what position will he play. Last season he moved around between CM and RWB often. While Klostermann spent a lot of time as one of the 3 CB's in Nagelsmann's backline. With a new coach coming in, I guess their defensive set up could change
98-99 LBs 1BL=Czyborra (on loan from Serie A), G-L Itter, Raum, Jakobs (Ligue 1), Eredivisie=Kohn 2BL=J.Meier (2BL loan), Agu, Handwerker, Beste
finally making career progress between constant injuries and wasting time in RL. A player who wasted chance for 1BL breakthrough with constant injuries too. ✌️ Willkommen in Karlsruhe, Kilian Jakob! Nico Schulz one of the key culprits on Dortmund conceding their first goal today to Sporting, and once again showing why he's not the man for the big stage.
Lennart Czyborra who's only played only 4 Buli matches so far this season for Arminia Bielefeld on loan from Genoa, is currently out indefinitely as he had to get an appendectomy operation done.
Ismail Jakobs who's spent time in and out of Monaco's rotation this season seems to be playing LB a lot more than LW/LM Played the entire 90 mins in their 3-1 win vs Angers today
Jannes Horn could get a chance in Köln's starting lineup with Hector out injured. Although their coach is still considering whether to use Horn or move Benno Schmitz to the LB position https://www.ligainsider.de/mobile/j...rn-direkt-fuer-hector-in-der-startelf-312661/
