    I mean breakout as in Sandro Wagner at 28 or Alex Meier at 29 or something. Niederlechner who I do rate , also a late bloomer imo

    They might be playing in 1BL but not until certain age when they really have big impact in the league or starting to produce regularly.

    I think targetman usually seem as “plan B”, n teams usually have one starting striker

    -Some teams play with small agile striker, because they mainly focus on counters tactically;
    -some teams play with false 9 like Gladbach, Werder Bremen or Dortmund;
    -some teams prefer veteran strikers n their older ones are still serviceable like Mario Gomez or Ibisevic...

    Many reasons why targetman have slow learning curves in general. 95%

    And this doesn’t only happen in Germany. U rarely see top targetman breaking out nowadays. One day when Mandzukic, Cavani, Diego Costa, Benzema, Giroud and co step down, maybe there is only Kane as the best targetman of the younger generation, maybe Haller n Maxi Gomez too... but it’s a problem worldwide

    Small, versatile forwards have different advantages and easier to find at pro level

    Based on the trend at top level in pro leagues, 24-29 more likely

    Serra is a targetman. How do you project his career?

    Ducksch finishes the Hinrunde with 7 consecutive matches where he was an unused bench player

    Difficult to tell when he can manage at top level in 1BL

    May take a few more seasons. Even he plays there doesn’t mean he can breakout in 1BL

    Even Selke... never manage to play a whole season of impressive football. it’s too hard to tell ..

    But in general , targetman are later bloomers .

    Looking at players worth noting in 3.Liga hopefully Warschewski and Akono at Preussen Münster, and Broschinski at Cottbus play a larger role in the Rückrunde.

    Tietz at CZ Jena has been most productive of youngsters and then Elias Huth at Kaiserslautern.

    Meanwhile it's pretty crazy seeing how poor Brauchschweig have been so far dead last in the table right now. Former Gladbach coach Schubert has a record of 1W-3D-5L since taking over. Phil Hofmann has been mediocre to subpar at this level even.

    Guess it'll be either back to 2BL or Eredivisie for Thy. I think playing in would actually be more suited for him

    although considered a flop for now, Fortuna still believes in Ducksch.

    The fact is: the striker hangs fast. His body language on the square witnessed early in the season of resignation and discouragement.

    Coach Friedhelm Funkel (65): "Marvin was missing the goal-luck in the beginning. That gnawed at his self-confidence. And I've also told him one thing: he has to work on his robustness and assert himself better in duels. "

    Sparkle to BILD: "I have high hopes that Marvin after the winter break ignites! He has great graduation skills - but he also has to be patient. Also, or maybe because he used to sit on the bench more often. In the training camp, he has to offer again and then he will start in the second half. "

    replace one giant in Veerman for another in Kleindienst. Hopefully he's stays in 2BL max until 2020, would be nice to see him get back to 1BL. This season he's had injury problems and he finished well last season for Freiburg. Although hit the post too often.

    as for Thy at Groningen he can help Chabot/Handwerker survive relegation.

    Fortuna has been playing resiliently to stay slightly above the bottom 3 relegation spots. Although it's going to remain a battle to stay up and for Ducksch to get back into the rotation again. I hope he's able to put it together and score 3-5 goals in the Rückrunde.

    he could still go there since Meier is 36 year old. It's a shame that Meier couldn't find a 1BL club as he's currently at 93 1BL goals, only 7 from hitting 100.

    concerning 3rd Liga young strikers there is also 99-Karweina. Kid is only 170-172m tall but seems to have been diverted to a SS or RW, he's played some CF too this season.

    shows some issues with how some youth clubs play very short strikers only for them to change positions at the pro level. It's a waste when that happens. Of course there are pro strikers in the 170s but in general it tends to be 180+.

    you got other example like Kuhn who used to play striker, now when he plays CF he's more of a false 9 and can play LW/RW/SS/AM, all attacking positions.

    next up is the short Tekin from Hertha U17, not sure how anyone thinks playing a 166m striker makes sense? even if he grows a bit more he'll be in the early 70s.

    there are other examples of youth clubs playing essentially false 9, where it's doubtful these players will play strikers at the pro level.

    Short strikers like Romario, Defoe, Neuville, Uwe Seeler n co are better off in two-strikers setup. Maybe 442 or 352

    Messi is obviously an exception, but I think he is a once in a century type player. Can be Exception in many cases

    Uth scored in his return in a 2-2 draw.

    recently we were discussing in other threads, players going to England non EPL.

    another German striker that flops in England and another 94 too.He had 0 goals and 0 assists in 20 games in England playing for an English 3rd division club. Stayed there for 1 year only now back in Germany and in 3rd Liga.
