at Hertha, there are 3 German strikers in Selke, Kopke and Kiprit (although he might end up with Turkey).

I've been advocating that a 1BL club should get Kopke as he's done well in his 2 2BL seasons and his 2 3rd Liga seasons, over the last 4 seasons, while playing for a club that's been fighting relegation battle.

but I don't think he's NT potential, could have a solid career but not the type to elevate the German NT.

Only 1 player managed to hit 2 in the 1st matchday, everyone else is 1 or 0.

    2BL Matchday 1

    -Beck and Dursun scored once
-95 Steininger scored in a 3-1 win for Furth. Would be interesting if he manages to make it to 1BL, as that would add yet another 95 CF.:D

and today Roser scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. Scored 9 last season in his 1st 2BL career season. Seems like hes off to a good start.

we'll see tomorrow but Uth and Volland are the guys who've fallen off the most this season. Although still 30 (31 for Volland) games left to turn things around for themselves.

Shame about Uth who went from a solid BL striker with Hoffenheim to the mess of a club that is Schalke. Hopefully he's able to bounce back. He needs to score 5-10 goals or else this entire move is a complete flop.

Wonder which strikers will be able to score 10+ goals this season in the BL.

Last season was Petersen, Uth, Füllkrug, Volland, Werner, Wagner, Selke. Gomez came close with 9.

While for attacking midfield/wing players, Gnabry had 10, Philipp and Brandt had 9.

Germany looks to be at risk of at least Uth and Volland falling off already. Wagner and Gomez are no longer NT options.

I've never been a fan of Volland. His finishing has always been poor, and he is so slow.

Selke has just returned from an injury, so he will need some time, but I expect him to do well if he remains fit.

Did a comparison of who the Top 5 striker options are for Germany against other top countries in Europe (as the next major tournament is the Euros 2020). Did my best to filter out the players who have retired from international play like Mandzukic, Vardy, etc. Also focusing on the level of players right now and in preparation for the Euros. Thus the reason why certain youth prospects are not included. Some players on there may be a bit ambiguous between whether they're naturally a striker or winger. But are included because the role they play for club and/or country includes being a forward depending on formation.

Germany: Werner, Selke, Füllkrug, Petersen, Stindl

France: Mbappe, Griezmann, Benzema, Giroud, Lacazette

Spain: Diego Costa, Rodrigo, Morata, Iago Aspas, Paco Alcacer

England: Kane, Rashford, Welbeck, Sturridge, Ings

Belgium: Lukaku, Batshuayi, Benteke, Mertens, Origi

Portugal: Andre Silva, Ronaldo, Paciencia, Rafael Leao, Diogo Jota

Italy: Immobile, Belotti, Cutrone, Balotelli, Inglese

Netherlands: De Jong, Locadia, Weghorst, Dost, Janssen

Poland: Lewandowski, Milik, Piatek, Stepinski, Kownacki

Croatia: Kramaric, Kalinic, Livaja, Cop, Santini

Russia: Dzyuba, Kokorin, Smolov, Chalov, Zabolotny

Switzerland: Seferovic, Embolo, Ajeti, Drmic, Mehmedi

Will it be Depay or are youngsters like Boadu and Lammers getting fast tracked?

  14. Yup. We probably willnot play Dutch style 4-3-3. More of a counter style with speed demons like Bergwijn assisting Depay. We've got some attacking talent in the pipeline, when they donot break their legs that is.

Wonder if Janssen's journey abroad would have gone better if he didn't make the move straight to Tottenham right away.

Speaking of attacking wingers though, Javairo Dilrosun has been a standout for Hertha Berlijn so far this season

  16. Yup, the Dutchies are going strong in the BuLi. Klaassen seems to feel fine at Werder.

looks like this will be a slow season for German strikers.

The fact that Gomez/Wagner aren't options anymore also decreases the # of choices. It's why we need new German strikers to breakthrough as quick as possible to increase the options. Whether from the youth or ones that are non youth but perform.

Terodde has now scored 101 2BL career goals as he scored a double in a 3-1 win.

as for the season he's at
    12 goals in 7 games in 2BL
4 goals in 1 game in Cup
16 goals in 8 games in all competition

he's also only 20 goals away from being 2BL all time top scorer.

Mark Uth will very likely get crossed off the list of NT striker candidates after this international break and join the ongoing group of short lived one-and-done options. Not that they deserve it but Volland and Kruse are already like that and have no chance of coming back. Doubt Ginczek will ever be in consideration.

Selke and Fullkrüg are probably Germany's only hopes but God knows when or if the DFB will be calling them up based on their idiotic nomination policy. Stindl is decent but not great and is already 30. Young guys like Arp, J.Eggestein and D.Otto are at such an early development stage that they're at least 3-4 maybe 5 years away from being even realistic.

    you forgot Petersen.

but tbf, maybe if Low resigns or get axed. In that scenario, all options could be open even Kruse and Volland. Kruse for one's issue is between him and Low rather than dfb and him.

as for Stindl, guys like him, Petersen and even Kruse are useful options to buy time for the youngsters.

that's what sucks about the youngsters, basically all 97-onwards strikers seem at least 3-4 years away min. Especially since one has to perform in 1st division to get NT consideration. So Arp and Kruger for example will be spending min 1 year already in 2BL. It's why for Germany best option is Hamburg get promotion so that he doesn't spend another year in 2BL.

so what are the options per age group? Random Ordering per year.
94-Ducksch, Holer and Glatzel (he's in 2BL but the way he's playing only time before he's in 1BL). It's a massive shame, injuries ruined Yesil.
95-Selke, Kleindienst, Kopke, Palacios Martinez, Weydandt
    96-Werner, Waldschmidt, Seydel, Platte
    97-Teuchert, Knoll, Eckert, Richter, Owusu
98-J.Eggestein, Daferner, Serra, Warschewski, maybe Berisha (although who knows who he wants to play for)
99-D.Otto, Kruger, Musel, Kiprit, Nieland, Wintzheimer, maybe Kaya too

I didn't bother with 00-onwards as they seem so far away from the NT. And of course new options could always recommend themselves later with good/consistent performances.

anyone wants to chip in on more names?

Just looking at 94-96's for now. Ducksch needs to start performing. If he can score 5-8 goals this season, then that is alright. Düsseldorf is likely going to be a relegation candidate. So if they go down he needs to draw enough attention as a legit first division scorer in order for another 1BL club to consider signing him.

If he stays around in 1BL, then hopefully it's with a club that provides him with good chances and maybe build towards scoring 10+ goals. I remain cautious though because he still needs to focus on proving himself this season first.

I'm skeptical about Höler, Glatzel, and Srbeny. Likewise Kleindienst, Köpke, Weydandt, Seydel, Platte still have a lot to prove before they can be discussed as serious international options. Palacios Martinez for me is a no.
