The replay vs. Newport County is scheduled for Wednesday, February 7th at 7:45 pm London time, 11:45 am Pacific and 2:45 pm Eastern. And it will be televised, sweet! And I just thought of something, it will be the first FA Cup replay at Wembley since the 1993 final!
Ok, here are some better memories for you! Would love to see the Wednesday promoted, Hillsborough is one of the great grounds in England. Could a certain Carlos Carvalhal work his magic again against Woolwich FC tomorrow?
I loved, loved, loved that match. the day of the game, I went over to the BigSoccer Arse forum to offer some thoughts on the match, as I knew well what Wednesday would be bringing. only a couple hours before kickoff, and they didn't even have a thread up ... ... so I started one. they immediately locked it down and started another one, giving me loads of stick in the process (ok, fair enough). but I told them that if the Arse took it lightly and Wednesday got an early goal, a full Hillsborough would be on song and they'd be in for a rough day. and so it came to pass. it was televised over here, and the place was buzzing. to be fair, Arsenal's fans were really good that night, as well - particularly in light of how the game was going. I've seldom wanted to be at a game more than as I watched that one. and to top it all off, the entire Arsenal forum credited me (though they called it 'blame') with the result, having broken their match-thread-starting 'system'. cracking post. repped.
It's almost like that draw was intended to let the big guns through... hmmm... well at least 3 of them are away from home so there are chances of Cupsets. Would love to see Wigan repeat their final win over City. I can dream.
It's happening again, it's happening again... Carlos Carvalhal vs Arsène Wenger: played 2, won 2 scored 6, conceded 1. Swansea 3, Woolwich FC 1. Now lets stuff Man U tomorrow! COYS!
so replay is tomorrow, right? and the new guy not eligible. regardless of who else does or does not play, Eriksen, if he doesn't start, at least has to be on the bench, in case spurs struggle to score again he can be a late game changer
Rochdale beat Millwall in a surprise. They will be our next opponents IF... IF... we get past Newport (because I learned from the great @jumhed that you should never take a result for granted. )
Rochdale beating Millwall is a break for us, nobody would fancy a trip to the New Den for an FA Cup tie - last year, Leicester's players were afraid to take throw-ins, such was the abuse from the Millwall supporters. Hopefully we can pull a Swansea and cruise into the last 16, but knowing Spurs, Poch will pick an experimental XI, we'll make a pig's ear of it and need extra time and penalties to squeek through... On Moura, Phil Neville commented that he had scouted him when he was with Valencia and was very impressed with his pace and attacking ability. Those are exactly the qualities we need to add to the team. Watched the Watford win over Chelsea and was very impressed with their Doucouré in midfield. He is what we expected of Sissoko, a box to box mid with good technical ability who can add the odd goal.
#THFC: Vorm (C), Aurier, Alderweireld, Foyth, Rose, Wanyama, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela, Son, Llorente. #COYS subs: gazzaniga, trippier, sanchez, kwp, eriksen, dele, kane toby's back! edit: so is Rose! edit: so is winks! edit: is this lamelas first start this season?
come on man, i'm not sure i agree on this Hopefully we can pull a Swansea and cruise into the last 16, but knowing Spurs, Poch will pick an experimental XI, we'll make a pig's ear of it and need extra time and penalties to squeek through.. do you want to see a full strength squad having a nld in 3 days after? actually this is the team playing today: Starting XI: Vorm (c), Aurier, Alderweireld, Foyth, Rose, Wanyama, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela, Son, Llorente. Substitutes: Gazzaniga, Trippier, Sanchez, Walker-Peters, Eriksen, Dele, Kane. Only Heung-Min Son keeps his place from Sunday's draw at Liverpool as Mauricio Pochettino makes 10 changes. Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Harry Winks all return from injury, with centre-back Toby playing his first game since November 1. i think this team is fully capable of seeing newport off and proceed to V round
we've needed to cut a few hours off payroll this week ... so why not my own? I've taken the afternoon off and will be watching this one. I hope I don't regret it, as this would be a particularly tough one to watch if things don't go well. hopefully we can put it to bed early. glad to see Winks back in. Toby and Rose, too. Should things go well, I'm going to enjoy this one.
same dumb garbage as the 1st half at Liverpool. since most of these guys were in the stands or on the bench watching that, why haven't they learned anything?
if I was Poch I'd tell most of these guys the reason they aren't regulars is because when they do get a chance like they are getting today and they end up sleepwalking thru it. not happy. lazy stuff so far
