I'm monitoring this at work. We are down a goal at the half. If we lose this game, I will be passed beyond measure. That is all.
team has turned back soft again. no creativity. kane probly the best passer on the pitch, if only he could pass to himself
Jesus Effing Freaking Christomatic on a Stick... how the blessed #uck are Spurs still not scoring. Give a damn! The FA cup can be played at freaking home if you keep your shit together.
Moreso the wind. You can see that the ball's being held up by the wind that's swirling around the ground.
wanyama, trippier, sissoko, walker-peters, dier, llorente were all bad some of those guys were sleepwalking out there
Well... not a loss, but the next few weeks went from packed to overpacked. I doubt the team has sufficient depth to manage all these competitions.
Probably the worst (1st) half that I’ve seen by spurs in a very long time. So pathetic! I guess conditions played some role, but still ... Don’t even wanna think about the next games ...
i had the espnfc gamecast set up on one of our demo tablets, so all I had to do was walk by it (which I did every few minutes), tap the google chrome icon, and up it would come. I have to say that around the 80 minute mark, my mood was very, very black. by that point, I was just praying for a replay, so I'm not going to complain about the result. it is beginning to appear, though, after 3+ years in charge, that Pochettino's teams simply are not fully invested in domestic cup competitions. Now, I know what Poch has done and means to this football club, so again, I'm not going to bitch. ... but I can't say that I'm not disappointed. EDIT: I've just now read Poch's post-match comments, and I will concede that I feel a little better.
On bright side, we're still in it. On the other hand, Liverpool and Arsenal have one less competition to worry about.
Utter shit yesterday. But what did you think of the young guys? I thought Foyth looked good with the ball at his feet, but needs to work on his long passing. Walker Peters, not ready for prime time. Easily faked out on defense, doesn't know what to do on offense.
Poch ralked a good game all week about fielding a strong side and respecting the competition etc., but then went out and picked a bizarre, scatter-gun team and tactics for a difficult trip to a hostile ground. Starting with Kane and Llorente up top was great, but then filling the midfield with Wanyama, Dembele, and Sissoko, while leaving the creative players Deli and Son on the bench was catastrophic. Walker-Peters looked more like a ball boy than a ball player. What the formation and the tactics were is anyone's guess. I really think all this Real Madrid talk is getting to Poch's head. Foyth at 19 looked our coolest player out there, although that didn't surprise me because coming from Argentina, he would have played plenty of games in that kind of environment and on bad pitches in the Argentinean league. Thankfully, Poch sent out a more orthodox 4-2-3-1 team out for the 2nd half and brought on Son and Deli to help salvage a replay, which will come right before the North London Derby. As one of my uncle's from Tottenham once said: "If you start the night in the Cup and you end the night still in the Cup, it's a good night". Just ask Jurgen Klopp, who looked like he was going to cry on the touchline at Anfield... Draw tomorrow at 11:20 am Pacific time, 2:20 pm Eastern. We are ball 14! COYS!
well done to Newport...they should make a pretty penny on the replay. They sure knew how to play the wind to their advantage.
we will draw Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, I will find airfare surprisingly affordable, and will then make a split-second decision to go over to see mates and watch a Cup tie between the two clubs that most interest me in England. ... then we will lose the replay to Newport. EDIT: actually, I've just checked airfares and my scenario fails at the first hurdle.
Provided we get past County, we will have Millwall or Rochdale away (their replay will be at Rochdale). None of the big guns were drawn together again. Millwall or Rochdale v Newport County or Tottenham Wigan v Man City Huddersfield or Birmingham v Man United Chelsea v Hull Brighton v Coventry Leicester v Sheffield United West Brom v Southampton Sheffield Wednesday vs Notts County or Swansea
ok ... so assuming we get past Newport (which I don't), we would then be away to the winner of Millwall v Rochdale. I'm not about to assume that we will, but we should get through to the quarters.
Millwall (Championship) at the New Den would be a tricky fixture (thank goodness it's not the old Den, that was a scary place), a London derby in hostile territory. It is still a good draw, but if I had a choice, I would prefer Rochdale, they are near the foot of League 1. It all depends on Poch - if he fields proper sides like he did against Fulham and Millwall last season, we should progress. But if he insists on picking experimental sides, like he did against Wycombe last year and County this, we could be in for a shock exit.
