i actually include garcia and mo, with mo being borderline. garcia was a staple of our backline for so many years. seems like he should've been included already. wolff and gutierrez spent too much time with chicago, as far as i'm concerned, and weren't stand-out quality for us for enough time.
Garcia's primary value was being a hard man. If you told me he had more cards than games played I would probably believe you. Conrad was always the more skilled defender.
And Mo's credentials are really based off one defining moment (taking the boot to the face in the 2000 Western Conference finals). Other than that his numbers are not that great overall. (And this said as someone who feels Mo should go in this year).
To be perfectly honest, an annual HoF vote seems too frequent to me. One inductee every two years would be fine.
No argument there. I'm fine with both Mo and Garcia getting in. From there I'd hold off until whatever the wait criteria is for Nielsen and Arnaud.
Wolff goes in this year. I had at least 3 already retired former players that should have gone in before even considering Wolff (Arnaud, Garcia, Nielsen).
It seems as though Wolff's inclusion into Sporting Legends has about the same level of inspiration as the season we're currently having. Fitting.
I'll always remember Josh ignoring the fans who came to the party after the 2004 MLS Cup loss in LA. I don't know if it was anything more than shyness, but it bugged me.
i gotta agree with the common sentiment here. no disrespect to wolff and what he did for us, but he had neither the length of service nor height of accomplishment with us to be really deserving of this. i guess the front office just has a lower bar as to what constitutes a legend. chalk it up as one more thing the front office is getting wrong.
I'd almost throw Gutierrez on that list, too. Similar number of club appearances, and - the kicker for me - he was a really big part of our inaugural squad. Defensive midfielders don't get enough love, IMO.
