PBP: Sporting Kansas City - San Jose Earthquakes (Saturday, 3/17) in-game thread [R]

Man, if Qwiberg isn't ready to take over for Salinas soon that's a serious problem.

 

Salinas is bad. And SKC is camped out in the midfield spreading their picnic baskets all over that zone.

 

We are pretty lucky that it's 1-1. Quakes 28 passes in the final third vs. KC 72. Johnny Russell is frying up some Shea Salinas for dinner. 35% possession. Looks like a pretty typical Kinnearean road performance.

 

Seems that he can't even make the 18.

 

On the plus side, Lima looks like he could be a long-term solution at RB. He's got a lot of room for improvement but I believe he will improve steadily with playing time. Vako, Magnussen and Hoesen are all top shelf for MLS. Dubious about Tarbell but he's still very inexperienced. It may come for him.

 

Geez. We screwed the pooch on that signing, then. Salinas is hardly good enough to backup LB, let alone start.

 

Lima has been good on both sides of the field.

 

I think we knew that after a couple of games last year. He is not just a solution, he will be one of the Quakes' best players for several years (or however long he's still with the club). He has been one of the few bright spots in this game.

 

Dont think Salinas has quality to play effectively against KC. Padoy looks a bit lost for a world cup player. Making the wrong decisions. Noticed our center backs preferring loosing us ground when on ball, while FLO is readily available to take the ball and move the team forward.

Halftime thoughts

Need to get Hoesen and Vako in the game more.Focus on advancing through center with Flo or right side with Lima and Magnus. At midfield switch it every once in a while to Vako.Please put Yueill on the field. Padoy has no impact on game. A little bit of defense, but clueless on the ball. And defenders, when you have the ball don't loose ground and pass back. Move it up to the closest wingback or midfielder. Both teams are pressing with high lines. Can't loose a yard when the opportunity affords it.

 

I can see why that was the consensus. He's an elite athlete who can read the game. As his skills and savvy come up to speed he'll be a beast.

 

Should be just a foul against espinoza. Nice sell by Jungwirth.

Salinas was never more than 3 feet close to Zusi. And worse, he backed away. I’m not sure if cummings was busy marking, but salinas let him have that

What the hell was Salinas doing? Why fall off him?

 

That is ridiculous. All the good that the offense did is undone by chicken-shit defense.

 

SKC has shifted their team to the left. Leaving Shea open and Lima covered.

Not seek g godoy make much of a difference this year. Why do you all want godoy o. The field? What has he done this year so far to deserve continue starting??

 

If Wondowski doesn't ride some hard pine after this sorry performance, then my support of Stahre will be gone. He doesn't deserve to be getting these kinds of minutes anymore.
