Part 1 of a three-part analysis of the Wizards at the halfway point of the season. Posted yesterday. Will be posting Part 2 today and Part 3 (hopefully) on Sunday. I got to spend a little time with Peter Vermes and Kerry Zavagnin breaking down game film and also got some details on Robb Heineman's thoughts on where the team is right now.

Posted part 2, it's all about the pressure and how important Auvray is going foward.

I love reading several of the other blogs, that I thought I would give one a shot myself. It is called "The Beautiful Game KC" and covers the Wizards and MLS. Please check it out from time to time and let me know your thoughts, suggestions and comments. Thanks.

"For what it’s worth, this is also when I created The Daily Wiz, and coincidentally, the team hasn’t lost a match in all competitions since. Hmmm." -- you can use a line to often.

Read again. It'd actually be 21 of the final 36.

Yeah I misread you entirely and edited my post immediately. Didn't stop you reading it though I see. I still think we'll be lucky to see 21 out of 36 - that's Alex Ferguson territory in terms of winning percentage, I'm not sure we are there yet.

Well win your home games that's 15 right there. All 5 are winnable, the toughest will probably be Seattle. Take 3 points this weekend and that's 18. Pull out a win in Philly or in New England and that's 21.

Sorry if this was covered in the post, can't get on wordpress at work.

Then again I don't think 41 points will get us into the playoffs this year.

Yeah - the home games are winnable, but I am not confident we will win them all :)

I like the optimism. Six points out is not a dealbreaker. We can definitely make up that ground in 12 games and in our current form, I think we can. Hell, if we were to string together two or three wins starting now we'd be telling a completely different story. Just look at what Seattle has done in the last 4 games.

    Re: Wizards Blog Updates

My problem is the goal scoring. Forget the 2 we put up against United. In MLS play we have scored 4 goals in our most recent six games. That hasn't improved much, the defense has and the midfield have but we are still not creating many chances in the box. I don't think we can sustain a run without scoring more goals.

Teal is surely a step up from Wolff, and I feel like there are more goals to come but I'm not confident we'll turn that around soon enough. As it is one goal from an opposing team in any game is greater than our average goals per game on the season ... clearly not a winning formula.

I think we'll be seeing lots and lots of draws :)

    Re: Wizards Blog Updates

Thad and I discussed this a bit last night while recording this week's podcast (shameless plug it should be up tonight I think) in regards to the open roster spots. We both said we needed a consistent scorer, Teal and Kei are playing well, but Kei's never been an incredibly consistent scorer (shown in the fact that he's hit a career high for league goals) and Teal's still developing in the pro game.

I wish you'd plug it more. Its a quality listen most of the time, and the more people that know about it the better. Besides that is what this thread is for :)

Yes the podcast should be up tonight. Had to do some maintenance on the PC I do the podcast and the videos on otherwise it would probably already be online.

Moved 16 gig of video interviews off of that PC today and a few other tweaks.

Mike's afraid he would to pay you royalties if he identifies you... ;)

I don't see any way Wolff is playing here next year.
