Ilithia is one brutal bitch. Overall a decent episode, except the "friendly" wrestling duels. Too lame.
Poor Seppa, deceived and manipulated by everyone and to come to such a horrible end. Ilithia is insane.
Ilithia strikes me as crazy like a fox. With her father dead, she realized that her only path to the life she had was to be with Glaber and she and Lucretia certainly set up Seppa there. That move by Ilithia bears striking resemblance to what she did at the end of season 1 when she ordered the doors closed locking in everyone with the Gladiators.
Very surprised Anameaus did not kill the egyption. He is lucky he just lost and eye. Maybe they are saving him for big fight scene against Spartacus, Ctixis or Ganacus
Not my particular cup of wine, but I can certainly see her qualities. And the pregnant / smeared with the blood of my enemies / up against the wall sex was perfectly over the top.
Holy Poopers > The comments on this episode over at The Onions AV Club are deee-lightful. But I'd like to bang on again about a minor peeve: So Argon literally saving Crixus from slavery and reuniting him with Naevia is not enough for Crixus to drop his beef. Nor is Argon stopping one of his giant countrymen from raping Naevia (and getting pummeled for it) enough for Crixus to drop his beef. But a few minutes of being on the same team in drunken Fight Club hijinks and it's blood brothers and BFFs. Whatevs. More Flying Fireballs!
[result] Makes you wonder if Ilythia will be the main bad guy next season (along with the new head Spartacus hunter). She's has even more to be mad about now. Too bad, I was looking forward to the spinoff series mentioned earlier in the thread, "The House of Ashur." I did think that Agron or Nasir would probably die in this one. Didn't like seeing Mira go, but that's what makes these shows good, the only one you know for sure is going to make it (at least until the last episode possibly) is Spartacus.[/result]
EPIC!!!! Awesome all around. 5 main characters go (Ashur, Mira, Oenemaus, Lucretia, and Glaber). Love it!
That was an amazing season finale. Actually this whole season has been good. I definitely did not expect that many deaths, and I was actually saddened by a couple of them, but I guess they need to start wrapping it up. I was a little weary of Liam McIntyre, but I thought he did a good job.
The next bad guy will probably Gellius, or even Crassus himself. I dont know how they are going to grow the S army to over 1000,000. CGI extras probably. It will be interesting to see how they handle the the decimation.
I read that earlier today, and thought of what I posted here. Glad she's dead. The next season has a lot of room to grow into now.
Oh. I get it now..... Holy Schnikes. That was right up there with Cartman making that kid eat his parents. I've always been a bit 50-50 on Lucy Lawless, I don't know why. But she's convinced me. She was amazing in that episode. That was some of the smoothest, silkiest crazy I've seen in some time. She was like the Quiet Storm of psychos. I'm also surprised how much I've come to love Gannicus' character. He's both the only true skeptic (in a good way) and the only one who is allowed to enjoy the battles. And the closure with Doctore was positively touching, aside from maybe the head cleaving part. Or maybe because of it. Plus, was it just me or did the directors make the Romans screams a lot more prominent when they were getting fireballed. I seemed to recall lots of chaos when Spartacus & Co. were getting bombed, but not the individualized shrieks of pain and terror from the finale. But maybe I'm projecting.
They are only doing one more season. Thats too bad. there are years of history they will be compacting.
Spartacus: Vengeance didn’t impress me even a little like the TV series did. The producer plans to make a successful Spartacus spin-off game, but it is hurt by its monotonous gameplay and out-dated 2D graphics.
"Spartacus: War of the Damned" premiers on Jan 25. The real thing took years and would make an excellent series. Unfortunately it took them two seasons to start the rebellion and they are wrapping it up in one more.
Not really. After Spartacus initial success the rest of his rebellion was marching (or being penned up) while stalked by Crassus. It wasn't an up and down experience, it was pretty much all downhill after the defeat of Gellius and Clodianus.
