Primera B is the new second tier from next season. As you may know, the Spanish league has one of the most crowded second tiers in all of women's football if not the most, with six 14-team groups and two 14-team subgroups: 112 teams for just two Primera División spots. They are going to create an intermediate category with two 16-team groups: the two teams relegated from Primera, the four top teams from the seven groups except for the two teams promoted to Primera and the four 5th-ranked teams with the most points. Right now these are the Segunda División teams in promotion positions: Primera División play-offs: Oviedo Moderno, Alavés, Collerense, Córdoba, Dínamo Guadalajara, Lorca + Canarian F4 winner. Primera División B: Oviedo Moderno, Racing Santander, Sporting Gijón, Deportivo La Coruña; Alavés, Eibar, Añorga, Atlético Revellín, Athletic Bilbao B; Collerense, Seagull, Zaragoza, Barcelona B, Igualada; Córdoba, Extremadura, Cáceres, Granada, Híspalis; Atlético Madrid B, Dínamo Guadalajara, Tacón, Pozuelo; Unión Viera, Femarguín, Granadilla B, Güímar; Lorca, Levante B, Valencia B, Villarreal, Sporting Plaza de Argel.
Patchouli, I am not really familiar with Spanish women's league divisions. On the league website, I find this page for second division, but the names of the teams don't look the same ones as you mentioned for Primera División B: is it something different? Can you explain to me?
That's the division's Group 1, with teams from Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria; there's a tab in the top right with links to the other seven groups' tables. In the Group 1 table Deportivo La Coruña appears as Deportivo Abanca which is its sponsorship name, [Real] Sporting Gijón as R. Sporting, and Racing Santander as Racing Féminas which is like saying Olympique Féminin instead of Olympique Lyonnais, and I forgot that Oviedo Moderno has been absorbed into Real Oviedo. So right now Oviedo would play the promotion play-offs to Primera División, and if they fail they would join the 32 teams Primera B along with these other three teams (Lugo wouldn't right now because it isn't one of the four best 5ths in the division). And apparently the best teams in the inaugural Primera B will qualify for the 2020-21 Copa de la Reina, which next season will be played by all Primera División for the first time instead of just the eight top teams following the end of the league.
The delayed Levante-Barcelona will be played on October 24, Wednesday. And according to Marca PSG wants to sign Nahikari García but Real Sociedad has rejected a €170,000 offer and the Spanish summer transfer window gets closed on Friday. To think that just last year they signed Christiane Endler from Valencia for €30,000 and it was a huge thing here...
Heh, look at it that way ...if Chile will advance from the group in France then Christane Endler may be worth even ten times as much comming next contract extension
"Primera B"? We need a FIFA rule that a second division must be called "the second division", or the FA gets banned for life So many have these desperate borrowed names like Superleague 2, or Premier Megaleague B2, it's not impressive. Having 7 divisions at level 2, like Spain, actually sounds good to me!

Some interesting non-Spanish names there: Marianela Szymanowski got mentioned earlier - she's Argentinian, and Betis is her fourth Spanish club in 10 years. Her brother Alexander also plays in Spain. Ashurst has been Málaga's goalie for several years now, including their promotion season 2017/18. She's from Normanton in England and was interviewed during the playoffs last year (quote below). Siobhan Wilson, from London, played at college in the U.S. before signing in Spain in Jan 2018. Week 5 got underway yesterday (Saturday). I missed this last week, but the Equalizer did a great interview with LaLiga's WoSo coordinator: https://equalizersoccer.com/2018/10...la-liga-femenina-iberdrola-commercial-growth/ Lots of fun tidbits in here, especially for those of us on the American side of the pond, from partnership-vs-independent to targeted fans to how the league is run.
Don't think it was mentioned here in June, but Spain will be in the Women's World Cup for the second time in 2019 in France. They secured qualification with a 2-0 win over Israel in Murcia, thanks to goals by Mari Paz Vilas (51') and a penalty by Alexia Putellas (88'). In today's draw, Spain have been given a pretty tricky group. Two or three teams in a group can potentially advance to the next round: (twitter.com/FIFAWWC/status/1071461046597152768) Spain v Germany, China and South Africa
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but the mod can move this to the appropriate one. An interview with the managing director of La Liga club SD Eibar, who happens to be a woman in a man's world. the 15-minute vid also says that majority of Eibar's management are women. Thanks for posting it, cachundo! Eibar must have got more publicity recently - I'd heard about Patricia Rodriguez in this article after their famous win. - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46369361 (Archived) A female-run club managed to get a 3-0 win over the sexist Real Madrid? There's probably a lesson there..
