Euro 2008 coach Luis Aragonés was remembered on February 1st, four years after his death. This was retweeted (without comment) by Santi Cazorla and Álvaro Arbeloa. The best Spanish coach we have ever had, well at least for the National Team. For club it's a bit different with Guardiola and such.
Spain squad 23 March v Germany in Düsseldorf 27 March v Argentina in Madrid (Wanda) GOALKEEPERS Kepa Arrizabalaga .......... Athletic Club David de Gea .................. Real Madrid Álvaro Odriozola ............. Real Sociedad Marcos Alonso ................ Chelsea (ENG) MIDFIELDERS Andrés Iniesta ................. FC Barcelona David Silva ...................... Real Madrid Was kind of hoping Gerard Moreno was given a chance.
I think Marca had an article a week back or so that our national team members overall were in a form rut the last few months, so these games will show if they take their club form with them or if we can sustain the way we have played since the last national team games, Against a couple of real challenge teams.
During this time of the season you'd be crazy to go all out in a meaningless friendly. Quite a few Spanish teams are chasing top honours in Europe. Germany usually tend to take it easy in friendlies (and especially ATM Löw will be mindfull not to burn out his players) while Argentina have been misfiring (even after Samps took over).
Kind of illustrates our weakness up front. Although I hear Diego Costa is playing well. But I'm also disappointed that Gerard Moreno didn't get a call up. Also disappointed to see Marcos Alonso called up. Is Javi Martinez frozen out? Figured he would get a look at since Busquets is out. Some positives are Rodri getting a look and Dani Parejo getting a call up.
Not really a fan of Javi, so I don't mind his exclusion. He's too slow, and not as good as Busquets that he can use his other abilities to compensate for his lack of speed. The striker is pretty much the only position that's not a set figure yet, so everybody called up and including Morata I'm sure, will still contest for that position. The lack of a clear starting striker might even make us play the no striker formation again. Tbh, I don't think I'd mind too much with our overabundance of good mids. Winning these matches has no worth, but I'm talking about how the players perform. You can lose and still have a good showing with good signs for the future, you can also lose and be absolutely crap.

Spains' final two friendlies are on 3 June at home against Switzerland and in Tunisia on 9 June, then after that it is back to the USSR, you don't know how lucky you are boys, back in the US, back in the US, back in the USSR....... ;>) Aupa Espana y La Furia Roja!
After Jordi Alba who are the best considerations to play left back? Azpilicueta, Monreal, Nacho... Marcos Alonso? Anyone else?
Posting this in both the "News and Rumors" thread and the "WC 2018 Group B news" thread and letting you all decide which thread to continue using. Provisional squad list of 35 players to be announced on May 14. During and after the wild Clasico on Sunday a part of me wondered if the negative atmosphere could carry over to World Cup team. Then I see this and now believe all will be good. Más allá de lo sucedido en el terreno de juego, el de ayer será recordado como el #Clásico de @andresiniesta8, un clásico de verdad. Se te echará de menos, amigoBeyond what happened on the pitch, last night's will be remembered as Iniesta's Clásico. You will be missed, my friend pic.twitter.com/WVzNQA7ugh— Sergio Ramos (@SergioRamos) May 7, 2018
the current strikers on the roster for the World Cup, how do they compare to those from the 08-12 roster?
Not sure overall but we don't have anyone with the quality of David Villa of 08-12. That alone made that roster better.
