AFF women's champions Vietnam sailed through in group B, but Thailand could outpace them if they get more than +6 goals against Indonesia tomorrow.
After the Thailand-Vietnam AFF final got 1 million views online live, the rematch had 1.4 million, on the Vietnam federation's Youtube, despite the low stream quality - it looked like a fan's phone video! Hope they'll improve that...

    Men's
Myanmar 2–1 Philippines - (Aung Kaung Mann 17', Win Naing Tun 79' - Baas 45+1')

Group B is led with 6pts by Vietnam and Indonesia, who beat the defending champs Thailand 2-0. But still 3 more matchdays in that pool. Tonight, those top 2 are facing off in Manila.

    I was chanting it

    Women's
    Myanmar 5–0 Malaysia - (Yee Yee Oo 17', 31', 77', Khin Marlar Tun 49', July Kyaw 90')

So, in group A, it came down to a tiebreaker between Myanmar (1st) and the Philippines (2nd). They both had 4pts with identical goal scores, but Myanmar won it on their better disciplinary record.

    Women's
    Thailand 5–1 Indonesia - (Kanyanat 2', 18', 29', Silawan 42' Suchawadee 51 - Rani 70')

Group B's winners are Vietnam, beating Thailand on goal difference, +6 over +4. Both the winners and runners-up are in the semi-finals today (Thursday 5 Dec). It's a repeat of the AFF Championship semifinals:

This women's final was a repeat lineup of the 2019 AFF Championship final.

A reminder of that result (in August)

... Could Thailand turn it around in Manila?

Match reports: Sports Inquirer (Archive), The AFC (Archive)

Women's bronze medal goes to Myanmar - trailing 1-0, they hit a quick double to win 2-1 against the hosts Philippines. (Video on the SEA Games channel.)

    Men's
    Final
Indonesia were aiming to add to their AFF U22 gold in February, but Vietnam completed a clean sweep at these Games:

    Indonesia (red) 0 - 3 Vietnam (white) - (Đoàn Văn Hậu 39', 73', Đỗ Hùng Dũng 59')

Myanmar won 3rd place on penalties v Cambodia.

In other news, Singapore men's unlucky trip was worsened by 9 players falling foul of the squad curfew. And Philippines' Justin Baas ruined his team's win v Malaysia by acting like a Baas-clown. Hope he gets punished.

But now the football's over, here's what we've/I've really been waiting for. :) Yes, it's the sepak takraw! Football without the boring parts.

It's amazing to think that Vietnamese football looked dead in the water barely five years ago. The VFF have done an amazing job with their grassroots programs, and now it's all paying off.
