Dallas City FC has been helped by the collective efforts from the club’s front office, including CEO Jacob Tuygun who has pulled these projects together and has more in the cards. With all this said, Dallas City FC have grown to start to see their success, especially on the field. But, like most projects, there are always the small hiccups.

Vidrio comes to Corinthians FC SA as the only head coach in NPSL with World Cup experience, both as a player, in 2002 with Mexico before being a part of the coaching team at the 2010 World Cup, again with Mexico where he served as an assistant to Javier Aguirre. Aguirre was responsible for his renaissance in the Mexican team in 2002 and then brought him to the set up as his assistant eight years later.

 

FC Wichita has their first friendly tomorrow (4/9). I should be in attendance. I'll try to report on the action.

As the end of the season approaches, Corinthians FC (San Antonio) and FC Wichita are the two dominant clubs battling for the 1st place spot in South Central Conference. San Antonio with 28 points and two games remaining (Dallas City FC and Fort Worth Vaqueros FC) and FC Wichita with 27 points and three games remaining (Joplin Demize, Tulsa Athletics, and Fort Worth Vaqueros).

FC Wichita hit the ground running in their first NPSL season. Strong team on the field and they also put together a decent live stream of the majority of their games on YouTube. Definitely a great addition to the South Central Conference.

They have a difficult road ahead if they want to win the conference though. If San Antonio wins both of their games, which is likely, Wichita will need at least two wins and a tie (?) to make it through. Joplin is currently in 3rd place and beat Wichita (in Wichita) at the season opener. FC Wichita’s biggest threat though is playing a recently surging Tulsa Athletics @ Athletics Stadium. The Athletics (currently in 4th) got off to a rough start this season. First a tough loss and a tie to FC Dallas, and then the huge punishing from San Antonio. However, it appears they are finding their form. The Athletics have not lost in the last four games and have ended up netting 25 goals. This puts their season goal count at 36 with 4 games remaining. (As a side note, the A’s will likely be a contender for the highest goal count in the South Division). To top it off, the game is at Athletics Stadium. The A’s rarely lose at home. The only positive for Wichita is that the Athletics play Joplin Demize two days before. Injuries are always a possibility. Anyway, it should be an interesting game.

 

Update: San Antonio lost their game against FC Dallas 2-0 (apparently with some controversy-they actually walked off the field before the whistle due to apparently questionable referees??)Anyway, FC Wichita needs only to get 1 point in the next two games. They play Tulsa this Friday (in Tulsa) and Fort Worth Vaqueros at home on Sunday. My prediction is a loss to Tulsa but a win at home against Fort Worth to take take the South Central Conference.
