This is the big one, so let's get the party started early. Gotta think that in frigid Toronto in front of a raucous home crowd, TFC has the edge. They will be tough to defend. They won't score the pile of aerial goals against us they did against Montreal, but the Atomic Ant is overdue, and he does it on the carpet. And Jozy showed his chops on that bad ass assist, as well as continuing the scoring streak. But they don't have a big edge. We obviously have some things going for us, and three very hungry original Sounders I'm not feeling AI right now. I think Fisher at LB and JJ at LW would best deal with their 3-5-2. But if Schmetzer doesn't want to get that frisky in a final, go with Flaco with Evans coming on as a sub. Anyhoo, hope Honey Badg gets his knee in order, because it's time for him to have another Finals moment like this:
It was a hell of a match. Obviously, I'm gutted that my side didn't win, but hey... there's always next year! Frei was a beast. He made the big saves when he had to, especially in extra time. I'd say he clinched the game's MVP with that save on Altidore. The defense not only shut down Altidore, but did a really great job of marking Giovinco. I never would have thought he'd be stifled the way he was. Congratulations to the Seattle Sounders FC on their first MLS Cup win. You guys definitely earned it.
Holy crap! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! MLS Cup champs!!! It had to be this season, didn't it?? Hahahahha!!!
Just want to pop in here and give you my congratulations. There's no shame in going down to a class organisation (both team and fans) such as yours. I can stomach the loss. It's too cold here for a parade anyway. What's really disappointing is that it ended up being a 0-0 match that had to be decided by penalty kicks. The soccer haters in both of our countries will no doubt have a field day with that. Cheers and see you next year!
In an ironic twist, Tacoma Stars took on the Ontario Fury down in Kent today.. they watched the pks on the jumbotron. .@SoundersFC WIN THE MLS CUP!! AND THE @ShoWareCenter CROWD GOES WILD!! pic.twitter.com/hrvzBGd1sl— Tacoma Stars (@TacomaStarsSC) December 11, 2016
I may have my quibbles, but we won't. We won! Brian got the ultimate result. Good on him and Woo Hoo!
I wanted to win, but not this way. That was an awful match to sit through, and not because of the suspense. Ugh. ...but a star is a star.
Back at the airport for trip back to Seattle. Totally worth it, but may have to embellish a little on the gallant victory.
About a thousand folks gathered to welcome home the boys at Boeing field http://www.king5.com/sports/soccer/...ders-to-return-home-at-boeing-field/367859973
My boss is a huge Seahawks fan and couldn't tell you the difference between soccer and badminton. But when I told him I was leaving work 6 hours early to attend today's parade, he just said 'Cool, see ya tomorrow'. Had a great time, but was sad to hear about the police officer accident.
Similar experience. Pretty much a free half day off. Somewhat on topic, my friends and I today at the rally were comparing this team to teams past. We placed it 3rd out of 8. Playoffs are fickle.
gotta love Demps: http://www.socceramerica.com/article/71616/what-theyre-saying-clint-dempsey.html?edition=16557
