Nowak said he'd like to hear it. We thought it was pretty cool and agreed.

What do you think about maybe substituting a nice loud UN-ION! for the last two doops?

AFAIK It wasn't picked up by the Steaua (not Steua) fans, but by the management. The track was played every time Steaua scored a goal. Not sure if it's still used now.

I actually suggested this on this thread last January, and I love to see that others agree... great sing-along that would lend itself quite well with a little tweaking, as others have pointed out

I think it's a great tune that would sound awesome sung by a crowd. I'd like to see new Philly Union lyrics with it though. Most people don't know it anyway, so it wouldn't make it any more difficult to learn.

    Something like...

There's power in the Union, power in the stands
Power in the voice of the River End
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand
There is power in the Union

    [insert another verse]

The Union forever! Defend with your lives!
Down with the [Red Bulls]! Sons of Ben unite!
With our brothers and our sisters, together we will stand
There is power in the Union

Good video to give people an idea of the song

Really like where you are going with this - tweaked a bit...

There's power here in Chester, power in the fans
Power in the voice of the River End
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand
There is power in the Union!

The Union forever! Defended with our lives!
Down with the [Red Bulls]! River End, unite!
With our brothers and our sisters, together we will stand
There is power in the Union!

    Thoughts?

    My main thought is, again:

If it has more than about twenty words in it, it will be very difficult to get people coordinated. We already have one long song (Four Leaf Clover) and we lose a lot of people on that. Our only rehearsal will be in the middle of a parking lot next to a beer tent, and if a song has to be read off a song sheet, it won't spread through the section quickly enough and it won't happen.

    Twenty words. Try:

The Union, forever! Together we will stand!
The Union, forever! Sons of Ben unite!
The Union, forever! Together we will stand!
There is power in the Union!

Seventeen words, and don't "insert another verse." That has a chance of getting sung at a game.

What we need more than song parodies are short, easy to learn pieces that can be repeated over and over. 90 minutes is too long for complicated. Think "Doop Doop Doop" (1 word) or "Stickin' To The Union" (15 words).

Only UUUUUUU can make all this world seem right
only UUUUUUU can make the darkness bright
only U and U alone can thrill me like you do
and fill my heart with love for only UUUUUUUUU

Only UUUUUUU can make all this change in me
for it's true you are my destiny
when you hold my hand I understand the magic that you do
you're my dream come true my one and only UUUUUU

Edit\ Sorry for the fairly long length of the song, but since it's an evergreen that most will know anyway, I believe people should be able to pick it up fast.

All great points, especially for the first season... just the chorus, tweaked a bit more, gets the job done and can easily be altered accordingly from match to match and season to season after we win a few Cups...

The Union forever, Our [first] Cup's in sight!
Down with [Seattle, Toronto, etc], Sons of Ben unite!

There is power in the Union!

I know what you're saying, but I think eight lines is doable. It's not close to Four Leaf Clover in terms of difficulty. You could definitely dumb it down a bit, but I think it loses it's appeal a bit if it's just the chorus. Even if people are slow catching on to the verse, a simple chorus will catch on fast.

There's power in the Union, power in the stands
Power in the voice of the River End
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand
There is power in the Union!

    Union forever! Forever we'll stand!
Union forever! Forever Sons of Ben!
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand
There is power in the Union!

If you mean different words, that's only 23.

It's way too complicated for a bunch of drunks to pick up on at a soccer game.

I can do the alphabet backwards in three seconds when I'm hammered, so I guess my point of view is a little off.

Now that games will be on ABC 6, we should do something with the Action News theme (aka "Move Closer To Your World").

I don't know if this is the right thread for this or not but I was thinking about when would be a good time for any jersey wearing SoB's to kiss the crest? Entering the stadium? Taking our seats? Before kickoff?

I know a few of us were talking about having something on the wall just inside the SoB entrance for when we were entering the stadium, but that was a while ago. Davey or Corey? I know it was one of you two...
