Ain't found a way to stop us yet Their eyes burn with their regret Seems every path leads them to nowhere Yeahhhhh they've come to snuff the Union, oh yeah. Yeahhhhh here comes the Union, yeahhhh YOU KNOW WE AIN'T GONNA DIE No, no, noooo, you know we ain't gonna die to the tune of Alice In Chains' "Rooster."
Theme from the Addams Family... Da-da-da-da, clap-clap...da-da-da-da, clap-clap... Da-da-da-da...da-da-da-da...da-da-da-da...clap-clap... We're here to cheer the Union, The Philadelphia Union, We're here to cheer the Union, The Sons of Benjamin... Da-da-da-da, clap-clap...da-da-da-da, clap-clap... I know how many of you, and for the most part myself, do not like to simply change the lyrics of another club's chants with words to be appealing to us. Yet, I do think that a chant Arsenal use against Tottenham can work very well for us against New York. We can never have enough of those eh? For a club that is playing like utter rubbish we could use: Are ya New York? Are ya New York? Are ya New York in disguise? A simple twice over should work well.
I think any self-respecting supporters club called the Sons of Ben would have to have something to the tune of Yankee Doodle, right? David Beckham went to LA Riding on a pony Made them think he was a star But really, he's a phony David Beckham, DON'T GIVE UP David Beckham, honey Even though you haven't scored You'll still get paid your money You can easily sub any player and city/club. Plus its an easy tune that the casual fan already knows.
For those frequent times when we are absolutely destroying the oppositions goalie or when an opposing player gets red carded or SHOULD have been red carded... ALSO for those time when we spot a rival fan being removed from the stadium for poor conduct (which the draft showed us will likely happen frequently, walnuts anyone?) To the tune of Franz Ferdinand "Take Me Out" I say don't you know You say you don't know I say... take HIM out
Obviously I'm not gonna read all 90+ pages of this thread, but I was skimming through and someone mentioned the Tastykake jingle... I think that's a great idea. It's Philly, it's simple, most people know it, you can sing it endlessly. I'm in. Speaking of things "Philly," I was thinking that when an opponent misses badly on a shot, a tribute to the late Harry Kalas and his home run calls might be in order. I'm picturing a shot soaring wayyy over the crossbar and the River End exclaiming "THAT BALL'S OUTTA HERE" or even just "MICHAEL JACK SCHMIDT" or something. Just a thought. Last but not least, some Little Drummer Boy action? Phiiiiiladelphia, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum We pledge ourselves to you, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum We stand in gold and blue, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum Forever with the U, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum, rum-pa-pum-pum, rum-pa-pum-pum Doooesn't matter, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum Whether we've lost or won, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum Always we'll sing this song, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum And cheer for the Union, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum, rum-pa-pum-pum, rum-pa-pum-pum Trying to figure out a way to end it strong.
yelling michael jack schmidt in unison when a ball goes way above the net is hysterical. i like the idea that we'll incorporate philly references into chants as well
for the home opener "Oh D-C-U, you had what we need(ed), and now we've got your Fred! now we've got your Fred!" to the tune of: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPyd7qFTsT8"]YouTube- Biz Markie - Just A Friend[/ame]
I too am weary from wading through the 90 pages of discussion, but I think Billy Bragg's "There is Power in a Union" is great and lends itself well to singing en masse. Sorry if it's been suggested before. I took the opening lyric and the chorus, knocked out the second verse. "There is power in a factory, power in the land Power in the hands of a worker But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand There is power in a Union The Union forever defending our rights Down with the (United, Red Bulls), all workers unite With our brothers and our sisters from many far off lands There is power in a Union"
How about chanting a variation the John Cleese taunt from Holy Grail to Becks (or any other silly English Ka-night) when he lines up a corner?
Just tweeking it a little There's power in (stadium name), power in the river end Power in a Sons of Ben supporter But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand There is power in the Union The Union forever defending our pitch Down with (other team name), and the refs a bitch We're the Philadelphia Union chanting from the river end There in power in the Union

At 1:17 in the video to 1:29, great little guitar rift. I'd love a quick repeating words with the beat in the background: Lets, Go, Un, ion, Score another goal (or kick some more ass?) just an idea....just a big fan of the beat and figure we could possibly do something with it. Also, love the Chelsea Dagger song, which I think other teams have been using around the world, [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtW4SLZKZl8"]YouTube- Glory Shed - Chelsea Dagger.wmv[/ame]
On youtube "Philadelphia Union Torhymne Doop Doop Doop" what is the proper name to find a longer version. Every freak'n search turns up a wacky 1920's style techno dance.
i don't know where the usage of "maria" started but it was originally "my radio, I like it loud". lost in the broken english to english translation i guess
I had no luck finding the original My radio (I Like it loud). Do you know who recorded it? The Scooter's Maria (I like It loud) deal has the matching clip to the youttube " Philadelphia Union Torhymne Doop Doop Doop" Beware the clip below is dripping with techno...if there's a "My radio" that's less, I'm all for it haha [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVjeheaFfsM"]YouTube- Scooter - Maria (I Like It Loud) (Official Video HQ)[/ame]
The original song was just called "I Like It Loud" and was recorded by Marc Acardipane: you can hear him do it here: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dFQxJl4Og"]YouTube- Marc Acardipane- I like it loud ***ORIGINAL***[/ame] The techno version, which is better known in the techno-happy lands of Germany and Romania where it got picked up by Steua Bucharest and Monchengladbach fans, was done by Scooter. In this version, Scooter are singing "Maria" and the official title is "Maria (I Like It Loud)", but Acardipane can also still be heard singing the original "my radio" lyrics; I think he's the half-naked black man who shows up in the video. Scooter also adds a large quantity of terrible, terrible German rap. The Scooter video, by the way, is one of the Eurotrashiest things I have ever seen. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVjeheaFfsM"]YouTube- Scooter - Maria (I Like It Loud) (Official Video HQ)[/ame] Of course, the techno version immediately became a Top Ten hit in Germany. This is the country that made Hasselhof a star.
So that's a well-known soccer chant? Or is the song just popular. The SuperDraft videos were the first I'd heard it.
The Doop doop doop chant alone is outstanding. I'm just gonna grab the clip and loop it a few times...really can't picture the River End being a light stick twirling rav area LMAO...belting out some AC/DC or Metallica all right...
