Wouldn't be a terrible choice, but a contractual mandate would have to include him buzzing that balding head of his. He looks awful. Awful. Awful.
That's the sort of resume we should be considering. National team experience with a relatively serious team and some coaching in top leagues. That'd be a step up, for sure. It'd be nice to have someone who was actually, you know, modestly successful in those top leagues, but hey.
He was OK with Croatia, but look at that roster. Failed in Russia, Turkey and with West Ham. Grab him right now, he is European.
Well we all suggest coaching the National teams are different than coaching club. But not a follower of his or any of the clubs where he 'failed', I have to ask did he inherit messes or solid clubs? Expectations are a beetch, especially in clubs that think they're better than they actually are. What are his coaching strengths, etc? I need to do some research I guess, before casting a vote.
He's an adjunct.Do they even let him look at The papers he assigns? They likely go to a year 2 PhD student.
I'd take him. Surely he knows he's due to be fired by West Ham sometimes later this season. Best to quit soon than be fired in 4months.
Slavan Bilic can't make a bunch of mismatched high-end internationals mesh enough when working with them every day. How is he going to make a bunch of mismatched low end internationals with some quality here and there mesh working with them for a week every three months?
This. It would be a terrible use of Fed resources to hire a coach when the guy who hires may not be here in a few months. It would be like a lame duck GM in the pros hiring a new coach, or a lame duck AD in college hiring a new coach. Let me add, it would be really arrogant for Sunil to make a permanent hire before the election.
Fits the profile, I would be fine with it, though I agree it shouldn't be Sunil's call at this point.
Would bet money that this is a plant by his agent to start the ball rolling on what will soon be an out of a job client. On the surface I am not opposed to it. He did well with Croatia, and did well at the start with West Ham. He's struggled the last year and a half but how much is that him versus the owners and his striker not staying healthy Although most West Ham supporters I have heard from say he doesn't seem to have a plan which is troubling. But here's the big question... Why are we even looking for a manager at the moment? There is absolutely no rush what so ever. At a minimum we should be waiting until after the W.C.
If I had Dimitri Payet at the peak of his powers, I'd prolly look like a decent coach too. I like Bilic, but I don't think he's the answer. Not that I know who is ...
